Welcome to Staith House. Gatwick Bed and
Breakfast Accommodation. Welcome to Staith House Bed and
Breakfast. Gurmit, Jindy and Jeevan warmly welcome you to Staith House, our lovely Edwardian family home and guest house situated in a leafy town crescent just a few minutes from London Gatwick
Airport (LGW). We offer a very comfortable Gatwick bed and
breakfast service at at flexible times to suit flight departures. Guests staying at our bed and
breakfast have their own dining/sitting
room, which opens onto the
garden. There are books, papers and magazines, playing cards and board
games. Children are most welcome (see section), as are those who are travelling alone. The guest house can provide guests with private
parking and we make arrangements for. Ideal for
business bookings, we have the facility of
WI-FI internet access. We also offer longer-term accommodation at special rates. There are good
restaurants and
pubs within easy walking distance. The railway station is 3 minutes walk, taking 35 minutes to Central London and 30 minutes to Brighton. We are surrounded by the beautiful English Downs countryside of Surrey and Sussex. Built circa 1910 by a local builder, Jennings, on farmland owned by Russells Farm. The house was initially named Holyrood House. Just before the second World War, it was renamed The Warren and by the late 1950s it had become known as Ishera. Some time in the 1960s, it was named Staith House. Presumably the owners were fond of the water because a staith is a landing place for watercraft. The house exists today very much as it was built around 100 years ago. It has retained all its original doors (modified for fire
safety), windows (some modern double glazed panels inserted in the original oak frames), skirtings, most fireplaces and some plaster detailings. In 2003, we removed the original cast
iron bath and Royal Doulton wash basin and taps from what was the
family bathroom and have now divided this
room into two. The original
bathroom was tiled on every surface (except ceiling) with antique white tiles, none of which could be recovered. There was even a floor drain presumably for wet mopping. The removed items of sanitary ware are in a good condition and have been renovated and re-used elsewhere in the house. Most of the glass in the
dining room windows is original. If you look carefully you can see how rippled and distorted even good quality glass was 100 years ago. Parts of the roof were replaced in 2005 with clay tiles matching the originals. Accommodation and Tariff. Services and Facilities

Staith House is located in Horley, a small town just north of Gatwick
Airport. We are easily accessible by road, train, bus and, of course, plane. M25, exiting at Junction 7 for M23 South to Gatwick. M23, exiting at Junction 9 for Gatwick
Airport. Follow the signs to Gatwick South Terminal (Junction 9a), then follow the signs to Gatwick North Terminal. At North Terminal roundabout, take fourth exit signposted to REDHILL (A23). At the next roundabout, take third exit signposted to HORLEY. Pass the Texaco
garage and minor turning on the right, take the next turning on the right into MASSETTS ROAD. RUSSELLS CRESCENT is the fifth turning on the right and is easy to spot because of the illuminated bollard in the
centre of the road. Staith House is about 300m on the right hand side. From Horley Station. Turn left out of the station, walk down the hill to traffic lights at the bottom. Turn left at the lights into Russells Crescent. We are a few houses along on the left hand side. The distance is about 250m and takes about 3 minutes. Horley station is on the main line from London Victoria or London Bridge. Horley is one stop before Gatwick
Airport and many Gatwick trains stop here (but not the Gatwick Express). If your train is not stopping at Horley, you can change at East Croydon or Redhill for a Horley train. Alternatively you can go to Gatwick and come back one stop to Horley, or take a
taxi from the
airport. Note: The railway station at Gatwick is located at Gatwick South Terminal. There are many coach operators offering routes to and between the main
airports such as Heathrow, Stanstead, Luton and, of course, Gatwick. There are also coach routes to Gatwick from all main UK towns. National Express is normally a good starting point if you are looking for a coach
transfer to Gatwick. The coaches drop passengers at both terminals. It doesnt make much difference where you alight, although the journey by car from the North Terminal to our house is slightly shorter (five minutes rather than six!).
