restaurant has recently opened at Little Good Harbour, Barbados. This unusual
restaurant is part of a converted fort and sits directly on the beach at Sherman's fishing village and the open
terrace dining area looks out to the ocean beyond. For starters, the enticing menu includes
baby clams in Creole sauce and lobster ravioli with Jim Beam butter sauce. With the fish market a mere ten minute drive away, the entrees offer tempting dishes from the sea, such as oven-roasted sea bass,
grilled swordfish, jumbo shrimp, pan-fried lobster and scallops served on buttered fettucine. The Fish Pot
restaurant offers a truly gourmet dining experience in delightful surroundings. Financial Times The tropical life's vital ingredient By James Henderson. As it happened, two sets of friends happened to be in Barbados at the same time as we were. So the days were spent on the beach, exploring and, inevitably, getting lost in the canefields, and during the evenings a meal out. One of my favourite spots is the Fish Pot, quite far north, beyond Speightstown, on the west coast. The
dining room sits on a wooden deck and inside a former fort. There are huge shuttered windows and waves breaking right beneath you. It's a classic Caribbean setting. © Copyright The Financial Times Limited 2001. FT and Financial Times are trademarks of The Financial Times. Fish Pot St Peter, Barbados. He was raised in cold, damp Coventry, but chef Trevor Byer's bloodline runs straight to balmy Barbados, where his legendary mains with island spices is winning raves for the new Fish Pot in St. Peter. Set in a small eighteenth-century fort at the water's edge. the
restaurant is airy and informal. Byer takes a purist's approach to cooking, and shuns stuffing, rolling, or otherwise playing with his food. He uses the freshest ingredients--flying them in if necessary--and pumps up the flavor with local seasonings. The result includes a pan-fried dolphin so delicately flavored that it's sublime, and a lamb shank worthy of Henry VIII, with a dark, bold, and fragrant bite. Also noteworthy are the
grilled lobster medallions and hash browns, drizzled with a mild spinach pesto, and gazpacho (246-439-3000; entrees, $15-$40). Cond Nast Traveler's 100 hot tables. June/July 2001 Bride's. THE MICHAEL WINNER MEMORIAL AWARD FOR THE BEST BARBADOS HOTEL GOES TO:..LITTLE GOOD HARBOUR. Forget all the hoo-ha about Sandy Lane (which looks like an explosion in a fabric factory), the house, five star service, three star accommodation) or Villa Nova (lovely hotel but it's a long walk to the beach)... The best bolt hole on Barbados is Little Good Harbour, a cluster of cottages 'round a
swimming pool in the north of the island. It feels like Barbados of 20 years ago, in the days before in-

Little Good Harbour is a newly and tastefully converted coral stone warehouse with stunning views both up and down a deserted lovely beach. Thank goodness for memories... sitting in the gazebo and gazing out to sea watching the frigate birds and feeling that lovely warmth around me. Thanks again for the lovely stay... and long live Little Good Harbour and the Fish Pot - don't change the style - you have something special there! Very best wishes to you all Sally Richard George. To Graham, Andrew and Margaret. I just wanted to send you a little note to voice my appreciation for the great ambience, service, food and privacy that you provided to us. We had a wonderful time in Barbados, which was partly due to having a wonderful
room with a great view, and good snorkeling on our doorstep. I will recommend your hotel to anyone of our friends looking to get away from the major resort vacation, without forfeiting luxury. To Andrew We have now been to Little Good Harbour three times and it just gets better and better. If you want to relax in style, if you want to get away from the big hotels and enjoy a hotel and
restaurant that has been designed and managed with a real personal touch in a fantastic location then stay at the Little Good Harbour. We will certainly keep going back and would recommend it to anyone wanting to chill out in style! Simon, Helen, Francesca and Megan Wright. Oxford. UK. Dear Andrew Graham, A whole week has passed already since we left your marvelous 'little place' - very aptly named. We were delighted to find you and to be able to stay for three nights at only a week's notice. We loved everything about LGH especially the cottage with its large sitting area
kitchen, and the spacious
room bathroom. Even the pathways through the green foliage are a special feature. We also much liked the FishPot
restaurant with the sea crashing onto the beach below the windows - excellent food too! Your team in both the
restaurant and the housekeeping department are lovely Bajan folk as well. The atmosphere is one of 'a happy ship'. Many thanks for a very enjoyable memorable stay... Best wishes kind regards Colin JaneColin Tindal, Tiroran House, Isle of Mull PA69 6ES, Scotland. Little Good Harbour is a luxurious and tranquil hideaway. It looks like it is not impossible to get away from the crowds and sample the local way of life on Barbados, and while the rest of the West Coast is teeming with
jet skis and beach hawkers, the Little Good Harbour provides that much needed
quiet retreat option without compromising on luxury. We stayed in one of the tastefully decorated
one-bedroom garden cottages overlooking the lovely
swimming pool and the historic Fort Rupert, and we were pleasantly surprised to find a decent sea view thrown in for a good measure. The downstairs featured a
verandah, a comfy
lounge area with a
CD player and a fully equipped fitted
kitchen. You may not want to use it too often as, after all, you are on holiday. Also, the Fish Pot
restaurant across the road served the most delicious and well presented dishes. But, the
kitchen provided an opportunity to cook our own catch of the day bought at the local market in the romantic little fishing village of Sherman's, only a 5 minute walk away. The upstairs of the cottage had an emperor-sized four poster bed and an
en-suite bathroom with
shower. There was also a
balcony with a view, a perfect spot for that early morning cup of
coffee. While our stay at the Little Good Harbour was thoroughly enjoyable and wholeheartedly recommended, the beach...essentially a
quiet place separated from the local road by lush vegetation...give me a car passing by every now and then over the constant roar of
jet skis on all the other West Coast beaches any time....the comfy gazebos were an absolute godsend, and for that ultimate relaxation experience you can always
lounge by the
