2007 Calendar of Events. Year Round - Star
Parties On clear nights (and sometimes days) at Blue Diamond Marina, Doug McFarland brings out his telescopes to view the heavens. Visitors are treated to close-up looks at the Sun, Moon, planets and the stars. With the clear, pristine air at Priest Lake, the term dark skies takes on a whole new meaning, or as Doug puts it, planetarium skies. Before moving to Idaho, Doug spent over ten years participating in educational outreach programs with the San Diego Astronomy Association and the Oceanside Photo and Telescope Astronomical Society. His equipment ranges from a 76mm refractor to a 10 reflector, and his capabilities include live viewing of solar prominences, flares and sunspots. Blue Diamond Marina is Priest Lake's deepest water marina, located on the secluded west shore of Priest Lake's Cavanaugh Bay just 5 miles from the town of Coolin, Idaho. We offer all-season deep water moorage in covered and uncovered slips with access for the physically challenged, inside secured storage, a wide variety of modern boat rentals, lakeside lodging, and the Waterfront
restaurant specializing in Italian and vegetarian
cuisine. Recreational opportunities abound year-round in the Priest Lake area. Summer activities include water sports, fishing for trophy Mackinaw trout, hiking, biking, photography, river running, golfing, etc. Fall and winter weather turns recreational pursuits to such activities as hunting, mushroom gathering, huckleberry picking, ice fishing, cross country
skiing, snowshoeing and snowmobiling on 400 miles of groomed trails. Blue Diamond was originally built in the early 1900s as the logging truck repair
center for Diamond International Corporation and continued in that capacity for several decades until it was converted to a marina in the 1960s. By the late 1980s the aging buildings were suffering from their years of history. Restoration and renovations began in the mid 1990s, and today, Blue Diamond stands as a modern marina while still retaining the ambiance, charm and relative solitude reflective of the facility's history.
Blue Diamond Marina offers one of the most unique lodging facilities on Priest Lake. Guest accommodations consist of two units or a combined
suite which are perfect options for those who seek a smaller, less crowded resort atmosphere with highly personalized service, and all the amenities of a larger resort. For fly-in guests, Blue Diamond is conveniently located adjacent to the Tanglefoot Sea Plane Base and 1/2 a mile as the crow flies from the Cavanaugh Bay grass airstrip. An advance
phone call will assure pick-up from the airstrip. Make your reservation online or give us a call at 208-443-2240 or 800-337-4537. Lakefront
