When you arrive at Casa Campana, you'll immediately be struck by our privileged location. We're right in the heart of Arcos de la Frontera's historic Old Quarter, next to a beautiful chapel. You'll also feel a strong sense of history when you stay with us - as if you are stepping back in time. The house is more than 500 years old. Outside in the narrow streets are monuments and whitewashed houses which have stood for centuries. And it's all very romantic!

How to get to us in Arcos de la Frontera. Getting to us in the Old Quarter serves the airports of Jerez, Seville, Granada, Malaga and more cities not far from Arcos. Their prices are 50% lower than some local competitors. By air and by car The closest airport to Arcos de la Frontera is just outside Jerez. Jerez airport has recently been modernised and it is very easy to get in and out of. Flights to Jerez from the UK leave from Stansted daily with Ryanair. The airport is fairly quiet - it only handles a few international flights each day - and it's located next to the A4/E5 Cadiz to Seville motorway, from which there is a nearby turn-off to Arcos de la Frontera. Transfer time is around 25 minutes and it's all motorway. We offer transfers from Jerez airport (30 euros each way, maximum 4 passengers). Seville airport is situated about 10 km north east of that city. Caution is advised on leaving the airport because for about 20 minutes you will have to negotiate a busy motorway - the A4/E5 - which skirts the city. This stretch of motorway incurs a toll of about 5 euros, which you can avoid if you turn off onto the N1V road instead (this will add about 30 minutes to the journey). Either way, follow the signs to Cadiz all the way down to Jerez. Then take the signposted A382 road to Arcos de la Frontera. Gibraltar airport is located about 2 km from the city centre. If you are hiring a car it's best to walk a few hundred yards to La Linea - the link between Spain and Gibraltar (Gibraltar is British territory) because this will avoid passport control and occasional car checks at the border, where there is nearly always a queue. Most of the run from Gibraltar is via the fast and virtually empty A381. Once out of the airport you'll follow the N351 a short way and then get on the A7/E15 motorway for a few kilometres. Then take the A381 as far as the turn-off to Paterna de Rivera, from where it's another 20 minutes straight on to Arcos de la Frontera. You'll find traffic quite heavy on leaving Malaga airport. Take the N340 and follow the signs to Antequera. Then it's onto the A7 (after 20 minutes or so the traffic will thin out) and then the A45 turn-off for Seville. You need to get on the A382 near Antequera - look out for signs to Campillos. From there on in it's quite straightforward as the same road takes you all the way to Arcos de la Frontera. Granada airport is conveniently situated right next to the toll-free A92 motorway, which takes you westwards until you can get on the A382 near Antequera - see above directions from Malaga airport. For detailed directions from all the airports we recommend the serves the airports of Jerez, Seville, Granada, Malaga and more cities close by. We can take you to and from Jerez airport at a cost of 30 euros each way (taxi charges are between 33-36 euros) if you prefer not to hire a car. Getting to Casa Campana in the Old Quarter We are situated right in the heart of the Old Quarter in a street called Nunez de Prado. This is a part of town where the streets are very narrow and parking is limited. You can pay to park in the. marked on the map to the left with a P. The plaza is only a three-minute walk from us but you may have to wait some time to get a space and access is daunting for drivers who have not experienced these narrow streets before. We're happy to meet you there and help carry your luggage. Should you prefer not to drive up to the Old Quarter at all, you could try the underground car park in the town centre. Then, if you are feeling mildly adventurous you can take the small bus which goes from the corner there every half an hour and brings you up to us. If you're really adventurous you'll want to know that it is possible to drive up to and past the house. What we normally do if we go shopping in the car is stop right outside for a few moments to unload everything, then drive down the hill and park the car. Parking's free there but it's a steep walk back up - which we avoid by using a Vespa! The Town Hall has plans to restrict traffic in and out of the Old Quarter to residents only, but at the time of writing no restrictions were implemented.

This is an ideal spot for a holiday in the 'real Spain'. Arcos de la Frontera is a wonderful place, steeped in fascinating history. We came with our 3 year-old daughter and she was thrilled at having her own room in the apartment. We went off exploring from Arcos de la Frontera and loved the unspoiled Costa de la Luz. And it only took one hour to get to Seville. Emma and Jim were very friendly hosts! Jan and Aaron, Yorkshire. After visiting the website, I came to Casa Campana from Singapore with some friends. It was all that I had hoped for - and more. Look! Jim lent TK his guitar - TK LOVES playing the guitar. Speaking of music, we all enjoyed the Flamenco CDs Jim and Emma provided for us in the apartment. Joycelyn, Singapore. In the lovely streets of Arcos we enjoyed following the special tour Emma and Jim had written. Living between two churches, a view at the lake and the hills on the other side was just what we needed, coming from our hectic lives in Amsterdam. We really felt like citizens of Arcos for six days, especially when our children got their hands on the CD and DVDs of and started to talk some Spanish. Hopefully we;ll be back. Tanja, Olaf, David, Madeline, Philip Olmer-Vermeer, Holland. Casa Campana was the perfect place for aging backpackers with family in tow. We loved the feel of Arcos and we loved the family-friendly atmosphere (thanks for lending us buckets for the beach!) Best of all we loved reliving our backpacking days by sleeping in the cool on the roof. We did have a room... but waking up to amazing aerial bird displays and the sounds of the town slowly coming to life just couldn't compete! Not many hotels would let you do that, would they! Mel and co, Hertfordshire. Having visited Arcos before I knew what a splendid location it was and what a bustling, charming and friendly town it is, full of genuine Andalucian character. Jim and Emma made our stay as good as being at home, both of them are perfect hosts and absolute mines of information both about Arcos itself, its history and its characters as well as the places to see in the area, not all of them in the guide books. The apartment is very cosy and comfortable and the views from the roof terrace are amongst the best in the area. Thanks Jim Emma for making our 2 week stay far more than just a holiday! Steve (and Denise), East Anglia. I'm at my desk again. Did that weekend really happen?... Pinch me!!! Getting on that aircraft yesterday was one of the hardest things I've done in a long time!!!! Choosing to shut yourself up in a little travel capsule and wave goodbye to 26 degrees!!!.. it's just not natural!!! We had a fantastic time, so big THANK YOU to you both for making our trip such a pleasant one. Annie and Dave, Cornwall. Thanks Jim Emma for making our stay in Arcos so enjoyable - we really appreciated your warm welcome, your splendid hospitality and the time you took answering our questions and offering your suggestions for local attractions, restaurants and onwards itineraries! You have the prime position in Arcos, we couldn't have asked for a better location. We will be recommending you to our friends travelling soon. Brian, Melle and Zac, Australia. Hope you are all well. We just wanted to say how much we enjoyed staying at Casa Campana. The roof terrace and views of Arcos were fab!!! Your help both in staying and all the other help you gave us was and is very much appreciated and we wanted to say Thank You for everything you did for us. We feel much better about everything. David and Michelle, Scotland. Very welcoming hosts, fabulous location. Jim and Emma went out of their way to help me understand the local area, which is very important if you are a property hunter in Arcos. Though I only stayed at Casa Campana a couple of nights, I felt quite integrated into the local community because Jim and Emma, who speak excellent Spanish and know lots of people, acted as a 'bridge' between me and the locals. Joe, London. High quality service from Jim and Emma, which included all sorts of aspects related to property purchase. Just what I needed, as I came to Arcos in search of my dream home. James, Ireland. Our stay at Casa Campana was made pleasurable by the owners Jim and Emma, who could not have been more helpful. As they speak Spanish, they helped us in many different ways including dealing with the bank and organising excursions to places of interest. Bernard and Lilian, London. Utterly accessible and amenable hosts, Jim and Emma provided us with a fascinating insight into Arcos de la Frontera - a town in which the community feel is reminiscent of bygone days in Britain (and long may it last!). My four year old had a total ball! Kit and family, Warwickshire. Excellent shower in our (guest room) bathroom. I get so annoyed when I stay somewhere and the shower doesn't even work properly. And your patio definitely has the 'wow' factor! Jo, Essex. Even the pictures on your web site don't do Arcos de la Frontera justice. It is stunning. The Bromhams, London. We stayed in the apartment. The beds were nice and firm! One of the things we enjoyed was watching the birds darting about above the roof terrace, especially in the mornings. We were so surprised at how attractive the countryside is in this part of Spain - it's much greener than we had expected, and quite spectacular. Sue and Fred, East Sussex. Feedback on this website I must congratulate you on your amazing web site. This is a labour of love that amounts to a tourism drive for the entire area. It is a very in-depth representation of the town and its heritage. You should get an award for your generous work on this. Tom Wallace This site averages 150 unique visitors a day. Thanks everyone!
