Choices: At Double E Ranch you always have plenty of options. We offer several very exciting riding programs to suit many preferences. You can choose your length of stay, choose your lodging and choose your activities. If you are a new guest just arriving, check in is 2 p.m. on Sunday afternoon. Take advantage of the opportunity to unpack, organize, unwind. Leisurely, walk around and familiarize yourself with the Ranch compound. At 6 p.m. meet at Headquarters to enjoy a hearty home cooked dinner, served family style. Ranch Staff makes two trips into the Silver City weekly: once on Saturday morning and once on Sunday evening. If you wish to be picked up at the Airport or at the Shuttle drop off point, you must advise the Office, in advance. Due to elevated airport security regulations, we will not assume anything. It is up to you to confirm your arrival/departure with both the airline and the Ranch. Round trip airport/shuttle pickup charge is $50, unless your are participating in our Cowgirl Camps or Roundup Weeks. Rates: We realize you have many ranch vacation options: luxury resort ranches, mild mannered dude ranches and honest to goodness working ranches. Many resort and dude ranch vacations offer rates from $295/night to over $650/night, per person! Over the years, we have worked exceptionally hard to keep our rates reasonable and as low as possible, even with the rising cost of fuel and feed. Our guest capacity remains small and we make every effort to keep it at 12 guests, or less. Our rates quoted below include three home-cooked meals daily for a Sunday evening to Saturday morning week, the use of saddle horses and tack for 5 days (except Saturday and Sunday), exciting guided horseback riding, often including cattle work, riding instruction, private, comfortable cabin accommodations with bath/shower, varying in size from one to four bedrooms and all ranch activities and facilities, including the Cantina and complimentary laundry room. Please remember: we are a 'working ranch' - not a resort. Your active participation is expected. While not as convenient, a great way to save is to arrive by 8 am on Monday morning; departing Friday afternoon prior to 4 p.m. You save the expense of 2 nights! Please remember: we pick up/drop off at the Silver City Airport ONLY Saturday morning and Sunday evening. There are no Monday or Friday trips. Hideout Cabins: $215/night per person, per night. Queen and Twin beds, modern bathroom, micro wave, coffee pot, refrigerator. Rocking chairs on deck. Tax and gratuity will be added at the time of booking. Rio Lobo House: $215/night per person. 2 bedrooms, one or two bathrooms, Living Room, Kitchenette, Screened Porch. Micro wave, coffee pot, refrigerator. Tax and Gratuity will be added at time of booking. Wrangler Log House: $215per night per person. 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, Living Room, kitchen, washer/dryer. Tax and Gratuity will be added at the time of booking. Ranch House: Built in the early 1900's, this was the original home of Joe Hooker, founder of the Hooker Ranch (now known as Double E Ranch). As the family grew, they would add another room! Cozy, comfortable with a screened veranda overlooking the horse pasture. 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms. $215/night. Tax and Gratuity added at time of booking. Rate for Cloud Splitter Adobe House: $250/night per person; 2.5 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, Kitchen, Dining Area, washer/dryer. Spectacular Views of Gila National Forest. Elegant southwestern decor. Completely removed from ranch activities for those preferring privacy. Guests must arrive with their own vehicle as this house sits behind HQ, on a hill. Magnificent view! Tax and Gratuity will be added at the time of booking. Special Weeks at Double E Ranch. (Beginner-Intermediate) is: $1125/per person. (Intermediate-Advanced) is: $1250/ per person and 5% Group Discount of 6 or more. All guesthouse facilities are non-smoking facilities. Please smoke outside. Because of the constant dry weather, southwestern fire hazard is a serious concern. Cigarette butts should be thrown in a container. There is absolutely NO SMOKING on or around our horses. Please be advised that smokers abusing this request will be charged $50/day in addition to the regular rate for the additional cleaning charges. You agree in advance to authorize Double E Ranch to process your credit card with this additional charge. Alcohol, Beer, Wine: You are welcome to purchase your own beverages to drink during your visit. We want you to have a darned good time! However, please remember: there is absolutely NO DRINKING while on or around our horses. The Management and Staff at Double E Ranch have the express right to enforce our no drinking and riding rule. This includes unruly or inappropriate behavior. Silver City Airport: Double E Ranch Staff will make two trip into Silver City Airport only: Saturday morning and Sunday evening. If you are flying into Silver City, you must make arrangements to arrive/depart on either of these days. Due to elevated airport security, Ranch Staff will not assume anything -- you must reconfirm your arrival/departure times with the airline and the Ranch. Unless you are coming to a Cowgirl Camp or a Roundup Week, the rate for this service is $50. A rental car with delivery to Silver City Airport is being offered to Double E Ranch Guests at a very reasonable rate. The folks at Taylor Car Rental, (505-388-4848) or Enterprise Car Rental (505-534-0000) are friendly, reliable and happy to deliver the vehicle to the airport so it's waiting for you on your arrival. This is a super deal, and presents Double E Ranch Guests with a great opportunity to see some of the while they are here. Seeing what southwest New Mexico has to offer is a worthwhile side- trip!! Sunday -- Check-In Time: We ask that you let us know, in advance of your visit, what time you expect to arrive at the ranch so we can ensure a staff member is here to greet you. Check-in is as early as 2 p.m. Your cabin will be cleaned, and ready for you. Supper us served family-style at Headquarters at 6 p.m. where you will meet everyone. Monday through Friday: We begin feeding livestock and bringing saddle horses to the rail for grooming, feeding and saddling at 7 a.m. The quality of your experience is only limited by your own expectations and desire to be involved. Remember -- we are a working ranch. By 8:30, you're invited to join the rest of the Double E Crew for a hearty breakfast around the table at Headquarters, meeting back at the barn by 9:30 a.m. Saturday- Check-Out Time:: Feeding and saddling at 7 a.m., breakfast at 8:30 a.m. 11 a.m is our official check-out time. If you are making airline connections in Silver City, plan on leaving the Ranch 2 hours prior to your departure time. Always reconfirm your flights on Great Lakes Airlines the day before. IMPORTANT: As supper is served at 6 p.m., in order for us to provide you with an evening meal and get you checked into your cabin, you must arrive at the ranch no later than 6:30 p.m. - unless you have made prior verbal arrangements with the Office. After 7 p.m. there will be no staff to receive you and the kitchen will be closed, unless special arrangements have been made. Housekeeping/Cleaning: Your Cabin will be cleaned thoroughly before you check in. Unless there is a problem, we won't enter your cabin during your stay. Cowgirl Camp Level II. Return to Double E Ranch HQ. Cowgirl Camp Level I. ~ Cowgirl Camp ScrapBook ~. Taking the Reins...Filled with confidence and self reliance, you are determined now to continue your journey! You've been inspired with the teachings of professionals and are daring enough to take the next step! In this gals-only week, you'll take your skills in riding and cow work to new heights! Our Wranglers will be working with you on advanced horsemanship skills, as well as on handling, herding, doctoring and ropin' cattle. We'll occasionally have a guest cowgirl instructor on hand who will also offer assistance in Natural Horsemanship, groundwork, round pen technique, or barrels for any cowgirls who would like to learn more about those important skills. You will improve every component of good horsemanship: balance, posture, soft hands, comfortable seat...confidence! From round pens to roundups, Advanced Cowgirl Camp is sure to inspire and instruct you as you take your Western experience to the next level! Itinerary for Cowgirl Camp Level II. Day 1... Sunday afternoon arrival: Arrive at the Ranch in the afternoon, relax and get settled. If you are flying into Silver City or taking the El Paso Shuttle, Ranch will pick you up at 4:30 p.m. at either the airport or the shuttle drop-off. Please be aware that the arrival time may vary. It's up to you to reconfirm your arrival/departure times and advise the Ranch Office. Due to elevated airport security, we will not make any assumptions - and neither should you! Day 2... Monday - Natural Horsemanship for the Advanced Rider. Natural Horsemanship for the Advanced Rider. RJ Hobbs will spend the morning in the arena with you teaching you to ride bareback, do roll backs, side passing, 2-tracking, turning on the hocks, lead changes, flying lead changes and backing up. Natural Horsemanship is a concept combining both ancient and new ideas, used by horse trainers and clinicians around the world to enforce the desired behavior of. It's all about communicating with your horse in a patient, confident relaxed manner. We'll teach you the techniques and cues to successfully accomplish this. If you have specific issues you want to address, now is the time to bring them up. After lunch, you'll take a leisurely ride along the creek. It's a great way to begin the week! Day 3... Tuesday - Team Penning and Barrel Racing! In the morning session, you'll have the opportunity to increase your knowledge base in the technical skills of barrel racing. After lunch, you'll saddle up to do some competitive team penning, finishing up with a short ride. Day 4... Wednesday - Reining, Cutting, Fence Work! Western riding was born around cattle and the history of the unique working cow horse extends back hundreds of years. Learning is exciting and challenging! Reined Cow Horse (or working cow horse) consists of three events: herd work, rein work, and work with a single steer down the fence, typically called cow work. You'll have a chance to try it all! Day 5... Thursday - All Day Cattle Work. We'll pack you a lunch for an full day spent riding the ranch, looking for, moving or working whatever cattle you find. We know you'll have lots of opportunity to implement your newly learned skills. Day 6... Friday - Cowboy Mounted Shooting! Have you ever watched an old Western movie and marveled as the hero galloped his horse across the screen with reins in one hand, firing off shots left and right? Double E Ranch owner Alan Eggleston will be instructing you in such areas as basic gun and horse safety, course and shooting techniques, pattern technique, developing team work between you and your horse and period clothing requirements. Alan is a CMSA Top Ten World Champion. Day 7... Depart the Ranch. After breakfast, make sure you have all the contact information for the new friendships you have formed this week. Some of you will leave after breakfast. If you are flying from Silver City, Ranch Staff will be ready to leave the Ranch at 6:15 a.m. to get you to the El Paso Shuttle pick up location or the Silver City Airport. Please remember to reconfirm your arrival/departure times with both the Air Line or the Shuttle. Due to elevated airport security, we will not make any assumptions -- and neither should you! Advise the Ranch Office once you reconfirm. There is no riding on Saturday afternoon or Sunday. Advanced Cowgirl Camp is designed for small groups of 8-14 so that each Cowgirl participant will receive as much individual attention and instruction as needed. Our Staff is comprised of real cowboy who have spent their lives earning a living at ranching. They will patiently and quietly help you accomplish as many of your new goals as possible during your 5 day Cowgirl Camp experience. Rate: The rate for Advanced Cowgirl Camp is: $1250 per person, Sunday evening arrival to Saturday morning departure, accommodations, meals, mounted shooting, all cattle and ranch activities and airport or shuttle pick up/drop off. Applicable New Mexico State Tax, individual purchases and massage are extra and will be added at the time of booking or when checking out. We offer a 5% discount for groups of 8 or more. Because airport security is elevated, we cannot assume anything. You must advise the Ranch Office if we are picking you up in Silver City. You must reconfirm your own flights arrival and departure and inform our Office. Cabins: Your accommodations are private, comfortable and complete with refrigerator, coffee maker, and micro wave oven; thick towels, and comforters. Most have decks with rocking chairs for relaxing. If there is something you don't see in your cabin, let us know! We keep them stocked with coffee, tea, creamer, sugar and sweetener. Please be aware that you will not have daily maid service or trash pick up. You must let us know that your trash needs to be removed. We are happy to take care of it for you. Meals: Meals are served family style at Headquarters and will be hosted by a Double E Ranch Staff Member. We serve home-style American and Mexican-style meals. Breakfast generally consists of any combination of pancakes, eggs, bacon, breakfast burritos, French Toast, cereal, juice, and coffee. Lunch can be anything from casserole dishes to cold cut sandwiches or burritos. Dinner is pretty standard and will include beef, chicken or pasta, vegetables, salads, breads and dessert. We happily try to accommodate most dietary needs, however, our Cook is not a dietitian and we don't claim to offer gourmet food. Please be responsible for your dietary requirements. Remind us, on your arrival, if there is something out of the ordinary we need to be aware of. Horses: Our horses are generally gentle, trust-worthy, willing. However, you're dealing with a living, breathing animal who sometimes has a mind of its own. Your horse and saddle will be selected especially for you by one of our Staff, based on the horseback riding skill level you have indicated and displayed. However, your comfort is our priority. Let us know if the fit isn't right. If we don't know there is a problem, we can't begin to correct it! Each one of our saddle horses is different, with unique personalities and abilities. If you're not getting along with your horse, tell one of our Staff. We want you to be comfortable. Safety: Your safety will always be our Number One Priority. With any horseback activity there are risks. Working around any large animal and riding horses belonging to someone else is very different than riding your own. If we feel you are doing something potentially dangerous to you or your horse, we will tell you - and we'll make certain you hear us. If we shout to be heard over other noise, don't take offense. We simply don't want you hurt! It's always about your safety! Always be aware there are inherent risks when horseback riding. Pay attention and report problems to a Staff member.
