Kathmandu is rich in temples, buddhist stupas, medieval palaces and shrines. Modern day Kathmandu covers much of the Kathmandu Valley. At its heart are three ancient city states: Kathmandu, Patan and Bhaktapur. In each of these well-preserved centres, life has changed little in several hundred years. The quality of architecture, carvings and castings which survive in abundance are among the best in the world. A number of hindu and buddhist festivals are held each year in different parts of Kathmandu - as well as more widely in Nepal. Depending on the time of your visit, you may see Kumari, the living goddess being paraded in her chariot through the streets of the capital or the Holi festival during which youths shower one another on the streets in bright red vermillion powder. The hotel is ideally located for trips to the main destinations such as the Swayumbhunath Stupa, the Pashupatinath Temple Complex or Buddhanath Stupa. It is with easy walking distance of the main attractions in the Thamel area (shops, restaurants, bars, businesses etc.). It is also within easy reach of the main airport and bus station - without being so close that traffic noise is a problem.

Nepal is a small Himalayan kingdom of 24 million people located between China and India. Predominantly a hindu society, roughly 20% are buddhist and there are also many shamanists and witch doctors in the Kathmandu Valley and further out in Nepal.
