Showing Shopping and Restaurants. Only a 15 minute walk away from Lockehaven is the village of Deep Cove, whose Main Street is Gallant Avenue. Deep Cove is a recreational boating centre popular with both Vancouver area residents and with tourists. The quaint main street features several restaurants, gift shops, a live theatre and an art gallery. The excellent local pub and a local restaurant offer live music. Vancouver's North Shore is noted for its outdoor activities. Here are some of the more popular ones that are either within walking distance of Lockehaven or just a few minutes by car. From Lockehaven, take a leisurely walk in the forest park next to the BB or take a relatively easy mountain hike along the east end of the Baden-Powell Trail to Deep Cove Lookout (Quarry Rock), for a spectacular view. For those of you who are into more serious hiking, climbing or exploring the mountain wilderness near Vancouver, contact Glen Sollars at. a mountaineering expert, who can guide you to fantastic viewpoints or help you test your limits by climbing some of the more challenging local peaks. In winter, Glen offers custom snow shoe excursions on Mount Seymour - a great alternative to skiing for experiencing the outdoors in the snow. Only a ten minute walk from Lockehaven is the. Deep Cove Canoe and Kayak Centre. which offers lessons, tours of the local waters and over a 100 kayaks and canoes for rent. For lessons and tours from June through to the end of September, expecially on weekends, it is a good idea to make a reservation up to a couple of weeks in advance. Also, two-place kayaks should be reserved a few days in advance. Small Power Boat Rentals. Deep Cove North Shore Marina, directly across the Cove from Lockehaven, rents out small open power boats on an hourly or daily basis for exploring the waters around Deep Cove and Indian Arm. 18 foot Bayliner Bowriders with 135 hp inboard/outboard engines and 19 foot Bowriders with 75 hp outboards are offered. Either of these types would be suitable for taking 4 people in comfort up to the north end of Indian Arm. There are several golf courses and driving ranges within a 5-20 minute drive in North and West Vancouver and many more throughout the Vancouver area. Northlands Golf Course. public, 18 holes, moderately difficult, and has a great restaurant, a 5 minute drive from Lockehaven - Tel (604) 924-2950. Seymour Golf Country Club semi-private (public some days) 18 holes, par 3, easy - Tel (604) 929-5491, a 4 minute drive from Lockehaven - Tel. Murdo Frazer Par 3 Golf Course. public, 9 holes, par 3, easy, a 15 minute drive from Lockehaven - Tel - (604) 980-8410. Ambleside Pitch Putt Golf Course. public, 18 holes, par 3, easy, scenic, a 20 minute drive from Lockehaven - Tel (604) 922-3818. Gleneagles Golf Club. public, 9 holes, moderate difficulty, scenic, a 25 minute drive from Lockehaven - Tel (604) 921-7353. Furry Creek Golf and Country Club public, 18 holes and challenging, very scenic - rental of electric golf cart a must, a 45 minute drive from Lockehaven - Tel (604) 896-2224. For additional golf courses in BC's Lower Mainland (Metropolitan Vancouver Area) and elsewhere in BC, check out this. Three good ski hills are less than 30 minutes away and offer night as well as day skiing. Each of these offers great trails for hiking in summer, especially Cypress: the ski site for the 2010 Olympics, is a 1 hour and 40 minute scenic drive away - an easy day trip. There is a corner store in the Village of Deep Cove, a 15 minute walk from Lockehaven, that offers a limited selection of groceries. Also, you could walk for around 45 minutes to either the Dollarton or Parkgate Shopping Centres for a back-pack full of groceries. To reach all the other shopping areas listed below, we would have to recommend that you use a car. Dollarton Shopping Centre. Government Liquor Store. Dollarton Shopping Centre is located on the Dollarton Highway at the corner of Dollar Road, about one kilometer south of the corner of Dollarton and Mount Seymour Parkway. (Deep Cove Road becomes Dollarton Highway south of Mount Seymour Parkway). It has a small supermarket, a government liquor store, a bank, a Starbucks coffee shop, a video rental store and several other small shops. Parkgate Shopping Centre. Parkgate Shopping Centre is on Mount Seymour Parkway, about a kilometer west of the corner of Deep Cove Road. It has a large Safeway Supermarket and several other shops. It also has the nearest gas station (Mohawk). Shopper's Drug Mart has a Post Office. The Real Canadian Superstore. The Real Canadian Superstore is a combination supermarket and discount department store. One of these stores is located on the south side of Mount Seymour Parkway, immediately to the east of the Second Narrows Bridge. There is a walk-in medical clinic on the site. Lonsdale Avenue Area. Lion's Gate Hospital is the main street of North Vancouver running north from Lonsdale Quay to Highway One and is the dividing line for addresses to be east or west within North Vancouver. For visitors, its main attraction is a large number of restaurants of all types. Also, just south of the highway on Lonsdale is London Drugs, one of our favourite drug stores and discount variety stores, selling film, electronics, computers, packaged food, and a variety of housewares. Lion's Gate Hospital is located one block east of Lonsdale at the corner of 15th Street and St. George's Avenue. McNews at the corner of 15th and Lonsdale has a huge variety of periodicals, including foreign newspapers and magazines on just about any subject you can imagine. Supernova Hair Salon, a block west of Lonsdale on West First Street, has been doing Denise's hair for 15 years. Contact either Dana or Suzanne. Telephone 604.904.8448 and see website at www.supernovasalon.com market, with its many specialty shops and food stalls is of major interest. It also has the northern terminal of the Sea Bus, which crosses Vancouver Harbour to downtown Vancouver - one of the best tourist rides in the Vancouver area. A nice way to visit the attractions of downtown Vancouver, including Canada Place, Gastown, Chinatown and Robson Street is to Park at Lonsdale Quay and take the Sea Bus over to Waterfront Station. From there you can easily walk to the above destinations. Also, Waterfront Station is a major public transportation hub, with a Sky Train station. The Sky Train is Vancouver's equivalent of a subway system, which will take you to on a scenic ride to many destinations in the Lower Mainland. Restaurants and Food Fair. located on Marine Drive, just west of the Lion's Gate Bridge in West Vancouver is a massive indoor and outdoor shopping centre with a total of 250 retail outlets, including specialty shops, restaurants, banks and one of the very few government liquor stores that is open on Sundays.

We encourage you to take advantage of the gourmet breakfast that we serve each morning. In this way, you have an opportunity to share your interests with us and get information and ideas on how to make the most of your stay in the Vancouver area, whether it be for pleasure or business or both. One of the advantages of staying at Lockehaven is the ability to stay all day on site, without the need to go out to restaurants for meals. The in-suite kitchenettes allow you to keep a week's worth of food in your refrigerator/freezer and cook it in your microwave or toaster oven or with the barbeque out on your deck. You can then dine in style in your suite or on your deck with the best view in BC! We serve a full delicious and nutritious breakfast to our guests every morning between 8am and 10am, either in our dining room or on our deck, depending on the weather. All breakfasts include: Coffee (regular or decaffeinated), Tea (standard or herbal). Fruit juice, fresh fruit, yoghurt, granola. Baked goods, for example: croissants or muffins. A hot entree - for example, last week's entree each day was: Eggs Benedict (English muffin, poached eggs, ham and Hollandaise Sauce). Omelet with cheese, asparagus and mushrooms. French Toast (toast dipped in egg and fried) with hot strawberries and maple syrup. Crepes with cheddar cheese, ham and mushrooms and side salad. Dutch apple pancakes and scrambled eggs. Spinach quiche or broccoli and tomato quiche. Breakfast egg and ham tortilla wrap with avocado slices and salsa on top. If you have special dietary needs or preferences, please let us know in advance and we will do our best to accommodate them. Breakfast on the Main Deck. Breakfast in the Main Dining Room. Self-Catered Breakfast. If you prefer to have breakfast in the privacy of your room or your schedule does not permit joining us at the regular breakfast service time, you always have the option of preparing and eating breakfast in your suite or on your deck. If you need to leave the BB before breakfast is served in the morning, we can provide a simple breakfast to you the night before for you to put in your refrigerator and heat and serve yourself before you leave. Self-Catered Breakfast on Eagle Deck. Other Self-Catered Meals at Lockehaven. The secret to enjoying Self-Catering at Lockehaven is to make it as easy as possible - both for the meal preparation and the clean-up. The in-suite kitchenettes have all the equipment you need to produce simple or gourmet meals quickly, with very little effort. One option is to purchase complete portion-size frozen meals that are ready to just heat in either the microwave or toaster oven and serve. Very little effort is required and the cooking time can vary from 5 minutes with the microwave to 40 minutes for the toaster oven. The Safeway Supermarket at Parkgate has a variety of such frozen meals, such as the Lean Cuisine series. Another good source for these is at the M M Meatshop in Parkgate, which specializes in selling this type of product, including a variety of single portion gourmet items.
