Terrazas del Sol is your Costa Rica Family Vacation Getaway and ideally situated just above Playa Prieta, an unspoiled Costa Rica beach. In a very short walk or easy drive you'll find the natural paradise of your own private ecotourism vacation getaway. Playa Prieta is a fine sandy beach with protective rock outcroppings at both ends offering a gentle Costa Rica Surf. Playa Prieta is a half mile long crescent beach with gentle surf perfect for boogie boarding. Surf fishing is also superb with abundant Red Snapper, Parrot Fish, small Tuna, Snook, Rooster Fish and many more species fish species. Playa Prieta is protected at both ends by rocky points and each are areas of endless natural discovery and wonder. You can walk around the point to Playa la Penca to the left and Playa Pan de Azucar, aka Sugar Beach, to the right; where you'll find Sugar Beach Hotel and a great place for a drink or meal. Along the way you'll discover small salt water tide pools with brightly colored tropical fish, crabs, star fish and the peace of nature. A very pleasant Costa Rica morning journey is to walk the beach to the restaurant at the Sugar Beach Hotel for coffee and a leisurely meal. If you want to take the cooler, chairs and fishing gear, then driving may be in order. Playa Prieta is so close that it takes as much time to drive as it does to walk. If driving, take the road back to Playa Potrero and in 1/2 Km look for the turn on the right. The road to Playa Prieta takes you right to the beach. There is very pleasant area to park in the shade to the right. Either way you get there Playa Prieta is sure to please.

Terrazas del sol is ideally situated 375 meters from the beach at Playa Prieta, a pristine Costa Rica Beach. There is abundant shopping and dining nearby in Playa Potrero and Playa Flamingo. There are two super markets right on the town square in Potrero and under a kilometer. There is also a very pleasant spot for a drink and a taco on the beach called Las Brisas. Down the road in the other direction you'll find the Sugar Beach Hotel at Playa Pan de Azucar. This is a good place for a meal or a drink. You can walk there on the beach as well. Further along the road has been improved and one can now drive to Zopotal. This area is undergoing development now and there are several large resorts in the early stages of development. This road now leads to the Monkey Trail now and deposits you just past the Monkey Trail Canopy Tour. There is a new road planned called the Ox Cart Trail that will be a more direct route to Zopotal.
