Picardy is a region in the North of France, northeast of Normandy. The region has three departments: Somme, Oise and Aisne, they are called to their most important rivers. The capital is Amiens. The Picardien coast is a counterfoil of approximately eighty kilometres, with alternating chalk cliffs and sand beaches (called the alabaster coast). Many people know this region as the ' battle field of Europe '. Wars in the Roman time have devastated much and have their tracks left behind in the surroundings. And therefore you find here lots of history and culture. The beautiful Gothic cathedrals are in these surroundings the head attraction. Especially Amiens (. ), Beauvais and Laon, but also Soissons and Noyon have boasted cathedrals. The department was 1 of the 83 departments which became created during by implementation of the law of. judging by a part of. (Amienois, Marquenterre, Ponthieu, Santerre and Vimeu). The village Ault and Onival. Willem the Conqueror collected in 1066 the conqueror 1000 war ships in the port of Ault to conquer United Kingdom. Four centuries ago there was a terrible storm and devastated the port, the church and its fisherman village, which was submerged afterwards by the sea. The duke of Guise, called the seigneur d'Ault wanted to restore the port but the plague brake through and afterwards he was assassinated in 1588 in Blois (three - Hendrik war). The sea damaged the coast, and that happens until..., partitions calved and this threatened the village in serious matter. Over the years the
banks have been reinforced to protect them against the violence of the sea for next centuries. Ault has a splendid bacon hoist of steep white rocks, strident cry of a gull in wind, the sparkling waves, flaming sun perditions... Victor Hugo was surprised concerning the old village with its houses of slate toes tiles, near leaning against each other to as birds in the wind, for its beautiful church from 14the and the 15the century with its black- white mosaic, made from chalk and flints from the sea. On the highest point of a steep slope stands one of most beautiful lighthouses of France. 106 meters above the sea you can see the steep
banks of Normandy and to the north the sand-
banks of the bay of Somme and the dunes of Marquenterre. Grown to each other, along the port of the Bresle, lies the cities Mers-les-Bains, EU (. ). You find here the highest cliffs of France and also beautiful villas in Art Deco style. Le Treport is a touristic place with a yacht-basin and a lots of
restaurants. In Ault one can enjoy the splendid view on sea, the pebble beach and the white chalk cliffs coast. Low- and high tide gives a different picture. When its low tide you can see mussels or crabs on the rocks and on the sand you can fish plains sauterelles (small shrimps). It is a pleasant bathing resort and the environment has preserved its charm of the years around 1900. In the village all first life needs are present: baker, butcher, vegetable

terrace) etc. and small supermarket. To Ault grown Onival lies on the point where the plain of the Hable d'Ault start, a swampy area where by the pebble winning lakes is to arise where a numerous of birds can be observed. There are walking paths and view points with orientation tables. Bois-de-Cise is a villa village some kilometres in direction of Mers-les-Bains. It lies in a valley with a forest and is at reach by means of a route panoramique those beautiful views raise the bid the coast and the fairy-like houses.
When you travel with the train, you can travel to Abbeville or EU. In both places you can take a bus or
taxi to Ault. You can find more Information on
Internet. If you travel by car you find several
Internet sites with route plans of your departure point to Ault. Below this page youll find a number of cards and route description mentioned to villa Zephyr villa la Smalah. As from the house it is a couple minutes walking to
centre of Ault, the grande Rue and to the sea. In the surrounding you find several hypermarkets, a
bank, post
office, pump station etc. How to arrive at Villa Zephyr : From Belgium: Route a: Via Lille/Arras. No the toll road. Starting from Gand/Kortrijk (A14) direction Lille and direction Paris (A1) to lead. Take before the toll road the last exit Arras
centre (N25) and to Arras direction Doullens/Abbeville(D925). Follow the direction Le Treport/ EU. After Friville Escarbotin follow direction Ault. For further instructions see route B. Route b: Direction Antwerp - Ghent ((A14) direction Ostende (A10). Or Jabbeke direction Veurne and Dunkirk towards Calais (A18). Via Calais and Boulogne direction Paris and Rouen(A16). After Boulogne sur mer starts the toll road. Take on this toll road exit 23 Le Treport/ EU (A28). Exit 2 direction EU/ Treport (D925). After Friville Escarbotin the tables start to mention Ault (D19). Route towards villa Zephyr : You follow the tables Ault
centre. After the roundabout you're on the avenue General Leclerc. The road changes in la Grande Rue. After the church, you'll take the small roundabout and turn of left so that you can take the road behind the church. You're now on Rue du 11 Novembre, 1918. On the right-hand there's also the Tourist
bureau. Drive on this road and after approximately 200 meters you find villa Zephyr on your left side.
Maison st. Paul is a detached holiday house near the sea for 4 or 5 persons. It's a comfortably decorated house with 2 sleeping
rooms,
living room,
bathroom, large
kitchen and a nice
garden. There's a private
parking for your car. The house is 3 minutes walking of the
centre and the beach of Ault. Price location from saterday till saterday : Cleaning: 60 euro (per rented period) Gas, electricity water will be calculated depending on use. It is also possible to rent a weekend or a midweek! Ask the price.

It is a special house and is situated on a slope (chalk cliffs) in the typical French village Ault. The villa has a splendid view over the village and the sea. Theres also a beautiful
garden. There are three chambers: two tower
rooms (2 per.) with a beautiful view and a
studio which can be used for four persons. Totally there are 10 sleeping places (and each chamber has its own

Breakfast will be served in your chamber because there is no common space present. In Ault you'll find peace and quietness, you can enjoy the seacoast, you can eat in nice

The St. Vulfran church, built in 1488 and never completed, is a master work of flamboyant Gothic style. Basilque Notre Dame de Brebieres. Splendid example of Neo-Byzantijnse architecture, the basilica Notre Dame of Brebieres had been baptised by the pope Leon XIII in Lourdes du Nord and has been an important pilgrimages since the 12th century. Built in 1220, one of most beautiful and largest (twice the size as Notre-Dame in Paris) example of the Gothic construction style, registered on the world heritage list of UNESCO http://w2.amiens.com/cathedrale. The water
gardens of the city Amiens. Established in a monument in pure Napoleon-III style, with lots of collectives from the prehistory untill the 20th century. Large park concerning prehistory. You discover 600.000 years of history and a century archaeology. Arboretum, pavilion of exhibition (constructions of the habitat and crafts industry). Ruine of a citadel from the 15 centurie which did service as a prison for subversive men. Napoleonkept here as a prisoner for many years', escaped by disguising himself as a mason. Remains of a castle from the 14th centurie. You can see a
kitchen from 1600, a part of the
room in which was passed sentence and pavilion. The abbey church has a superb, entirely carved frontage in flamboyant Gothic style. Chapelle st. Esprit in Rue. Decoratively gothic sculpture. Extended nature area (1000 ha) of forested dunes and pastures to the edge of the bay of the Somme. It is the country between ground and sea, what the Picardic coast in its origin has been preserved. Feudal, 15th century citadel which gives an entirely intact deposition of military architecture in the middle ages.
