Welcome to the Bedlam Bed and
Breakfast in and Sky Harbor International
Airport in. The notorious Superstition Wilderness and majestic Four Peaks are easily seen from our
patio, while the tall pines of. Arizona's Rim Country is a short drive north. The name Bedlam was chosen when I opened our BB back in the 80's, intending to warn our guests about our four young girls and the pandemonium they caused. The girls are grown and off on their own but the name remains. Nestled high on a hillside acre, our 5,000 square foot southwest territorial home adjoins miles of virgin desert with a horizon full of spectacular views of many mountain ranges. These include the Mazatzals to the north, the 7000 foot high Four Peaks to the east, and the Superstition Mountains to the south as well as close up views of the Sonoran desert with all the abundant wildlife. Hello, I'm your hostess Pam Carlson. My husband Tom and our Jack Russel terriers Lucky and Prudence welcome you to Bedlam Bed and
Breakfast. Our home has been a long time dream and labor of love. I have designed and built custom homes in Fountain Hills for the past 18 years and we love our life here in Arizona. Tom grew up on the west side of St. Paul, Minnesota. I grew up on a farm just outside the town of Newport, twenty minutes south of the Twin Cities. We came to Arizona in 1986 where the weather was best for Tom's
health. Lucky The Wonder Dog. Our dog Lucky is the actual owner of the Bedlam BB, or so he thinks. He jealously guards the back yard, chasing away the quail or other birds that take a
drink from the
pool or Koi pond. Oh yes, we also have a hot
tub which can be heated upon request. Our other dog Prudence is more cautious. She peeks over the lookout bench trying to spot rabbits or javelina trolling by at dusk, while the sun dances off the peaks and mountains spreading rays of gold, pink and purple. The scene from our
patio is a delight for the eyes. Design by 3 Star Media
is just five miles outside. Arizona. Prescott, founded in 1864, was Arizona's first territorial capital and is approximately a two hour drive from the Bedlam BB. At the top of the outside staircase you will find the Sunrise
room on your left with the wood door. You will definitely
wake up on the sunny side in the Sunrise
room! Both windows face east. One frames the Four Peaks Mountains. The other window captures the Superstition mountains including Red Rock, the Goldfields and Needle Rock. All these are the home of the Apache Thunder god and of the Legendary Lost Dutchman gold mine. The bright yellow walls create a warm, sunny feeling. A King size homemade Four Poster Log bed adds to the sunny, comfortable decor. We saw a bed just like this in Payson for $2,800. Wow! So we built one ourselves out of Alligator Juniper, pine and worm wood. It took 10 days and 3 chiropractic treatments to finish. With the help of three football players from Fountain Hills High we carried it upstairs where it shall ever remain. Above the Log bed hangs the tanned hide of an elk harvested by daughter, Tiffany, when she was twelve years old. On the south wall we have six framed antique prints of Blackfeet Indians. These are part of a mint condition collection owned by our family. This lantern is a family heirloom. Tom's Grandfather, Nils John Moline (of the founding family of Moline, Illinois), used it to signal the trains of the Luce Line Railroad. There was no track switcher on the line so Nils had to go out every night and signal the trains. You'll feel right at home with a
refrigerator and
coffeepot, complete private
bath,
television and
telephone, the
room is
non-smoking with a high-speed
wireless internet connection. You'll enjoy the views from the porch swing just outside your door.
Simply put. The mark of any great bed and
breakfast is: Would you love to call this place home! We have always loved antiques, collectables and heirlooms, so we wanted a home that was casual and warm, with a lived-in antique
shop flare. Among the heirlooms you will find lamps made from an Electrolux vacuum, an old boot and a even a
coffeepot. Everywhere you look you'll discover knickknacks with an interesting story to tell. In the
living room there is a bubbling plant-skirted fountain with a trumpet horn for a spout. The wood that was used for our doors and cabinets was purchased from a building salvage yard in Phoenix. Hours upon hours of pulling nails, sanding, cutting and finishing brought out a delightful, warm feeling to each
room in our home. Our
dining room set is an antique and has been in Tom's family since the early 1950's. Many a fish fry have graced this table as it sat in a tiny cabin on Lake Minnetonka in Minnesota. If only the table could talk. A fun part of staying at Bedlam is joining us for a family style
breakfast.
Breakfast is usually served at 8 a.m. in our
dining room. Other times for
breakfast can be accommodated depending on your schedule. Stories, laughter and engaging conversation abound as a full
breakfast of homemade quiche or scrambled eggs with warm muffins or
coffee cake, plus a fresh fruit plate,
coffee and juice is served. if you have more questions. You can do so by e-mail through our or call us at 480-837-9695.
This photo of the 7,000 foot shows them dressed in a blanket of winter snow. Four Peaks is a short drive north of the Bedlam BB and can be seen from all our
rooms. You go up the outside staircase to the
rooms on the second level...you have decided to stay in the Coyote
Room. The Coyote
room has five windows to capture the
beauty of all the surrounding mountains, while the southwest decor invites you in. The King size headboard was made by us at the same time we created the cabinets and doors. The rocking chair in the
room is the one I rocked the girls in when they were little. The tables were purchased in Rocky Point, Mexico, and are made of Cholla Cactus ribs. The round corner table with the class top has an inlaid design of a howling coyote. Oh yes, each of the
rooms comes with a set of binoculars to help spot wildlife. The love couch pulls out for a single bed if needed. The
room is complete with
TV,
refrigerator and
coffee pot for that first morning brew. The
room also has a complete private
bath,
telephone, is
non-smoking and offers a high-speed
wireless internet connection. You will enjoy the views from the porch swing just outside your door.

room affords early risers raspberry tinted silhouettes of the Four Peaks mountain range. The Queen Four Poster bed and period piece photos, pictures and a lamp made from an old tobacco humidor, complete with smoking pipes give the
