Some excerpts from the website of Carelshaven Hotel and Restaurant that might be useful
Built in 1772 by Earl Carel George van Wassenaar, Lord of Twickel, as an inn on the Twickel Canal. Under the management of the Kluvers Family since 1837 and synonymous with gastronomic excellence in the eastern region of Twente. The present generation and management: Your hostess and host are Caroline Kluvers and her husband Chris van der Sluis, who together with their team of 15 staff, combine the very best in service with their own personal touch. Carelshaven boasts 20 tastefully furnished
double rooms, all of which are en
suite and equipped with
telephone,
minibar and
TV and
private bathroom. Half of the
rooms are situated in the main building and the other half in the
garden wing. The
rooms in the
garden wing all have their own
terrace or
balcony. Deluxe
breakfast buffet from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m., at a price of € 12.50 per person. The conservatory, furnished in bright and cheerful shades, offers a delightful view of our
garden, with its wide expanses of lawn and its colourful flower borders. The tables are arranged spaciously and the
room seats approximately 20 persons. The same sunny atmosphere is reflected in the adjoining
restaurant, where it is embellished with the odd classical touch. The
restaurant can accommodate a further 25 persons. In the winter months, savour the cosy ambience of our tavern, the former shippers' inn, with its attractive hearth and antique
furniture. This
room exudes an air of comfort and warmth and can seat around 25 guests. When summer rolls around and the elements allow, we serve both
lunch and
dinner on our royal
terrace, which can seat some 50 guests. Our menu changes regularly and bears ample witness to the culinary creativity of our head chef. The seasons form an important leitmotif and quality is paramount. French
cuisine is the rich source of inspiration for the dishes, enhanced by the odd dash of Italian flair. We also have a special
lunch menu and a small menu for light
lunches or snacks and all our menus change on a monthly basis. The wine list features an impressive assortment of French and Italian wines, to say nothing of the considered selection from other wine-producing countries. Carelshaven offers ample opportunity for holding festive or
business dinners, large or small receptions,
meetings, courses or
conferences.
