You will enjoy the charm of the 1800's in this completely restored period Inn, with central air conditioning, private baths, cable TV, Internet Access (including wireless), and sound proofing. These modern comforts are combined with authentic period furnishings and appointments, a perfect blend of the old and the new. We offer a full country breakfast, individually prepared for each guest. There are wonderful activities all the year round and interesting things to see, do and explore. We are easy to find and just a nice drive from the Washington DC, Baltimore, Pittsburgh or Charleston, WV regions. Romney is the oldest town in West Virginia, a small, sleepy hamlet nestled in a lovely valley on the South Branch of the Potomac River in Hampshire County. It is a calm and peaceful place, perfect for a family getaway or a romantic escape.

The Lamplighter Room: Located on the first floor, it offers an attached bath with an alcohol-burning fireplace. The matching rosewood queen-sized bed, armoire, and dresser are circa 1860. The Whitacre Room: This room is on the second floor. It is named after the second owners of the house. It has an attached bath, an alcohol-burning fireplace, and is furnished with an Eastlake-style bedroom suite. The furniture was purchased new by a local family in 1882. This room has a queen-sized bed. The Rebecca Room: Located on the second floor, this room was originally the children's room. It has an attached bath and is furnished with a rare 1840’s full-sized bed. The Monroe Room: Named after Miss Ethel Monroe, the third owner, who occupied the house from 1901 to 1927, this room has an attached bath and a circa 1840 full-sized cannon ball bed. This was originally the boys' room. The Hampshire Guest House: This charming house, next door to Hampshire House, is beautifully furnished. It has 3 bedrooms (consisting of 1 queen bed, one full bed, one full sized futon, and two single beds - total) , 11/2 baths, full kitchen, dining room, living room and a delightful sunroom.
