Burg Hostel is located in the centre of the fortress grounds and offers beds for 64 guests in 16 modern rooms - the ideal accommodation for school groups and students as well as those travelling alone and families: 1 single room, 8 double rooms or 2-bed rooms, 3 three-bed-rooms, 1 four-bed-room, 2 five-bed-room, 1 five-bed room, a seminar room and cellar for recreation may be used by our guests free of charge. Our kitchen prepares local and international specialities. Our Culture Pub offers a wide assortment of drinks and DSL internet, while concerts take place every Friday in our Music Pub. Price during off season: 8.50 € - 12.50 €; Price during peak season: 10 € - 15 €. Group discounts upon request, 10% discount for members of the Youth Hostel Association. The Burghostel is run by the "Interethnische Jugendbildungszentrum e. V. Sighisoara" (ibz). Thus, it is our specific desire to introduce both youth and adults to the culture of Transylvania. In this context, we accent the ethnic diversity of the region in particular.
The rooms in our hostel are in a set of medieval buildings dating from the 17th century. Originally the buildings, hree altogether, were used as residences. During the conversion process increased value was put upon retaining the historical building structure. Our rooms are also witness to this, they are characterized by cosy nooks reflecting the passage of the centuries. However, our hostel’s singular uniqueness is not only due to the design of its rooms, but also due to its many different room categories. From single rooms to family apartments to dormitories, in all we offer 16 rooms thereby providing the specific comfort desired by each traveller and each group.
The Burg-Hostel is located in the heart of the medieval fortress of Sighisoara in a set of carefully restored 17th century buildings. Both the town center, the so-called Lower City, as well as all the key tourist points of interest in town are just a few minutes’ walk away. Since our hostel is located in the middle of the medieval fortress, a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Site, we request that you please park your car in the Lower City. We are actively lobbying to have the fortress be declared a pedestrians-only zone. If required however, for the time being, upon paying a fee one may still drive up to the fortress with a car and park in the immediate vicinity of the hostel. After 10:00 p.m. no fee is required.
