When you go on your next Caribbean holiday, you have two choices on how you can travel. You can go to a lush tourist resort, pay high prices, fight the crowds, get a tan, and never actually see the real Caribbean, or you can go somewhere a little more remote. Somewhere untainted by the outside world. A place where natural flora and fauna meet the sea in total tranquility. An island where you can truly experience what it's like to get away from it all. Thankfully, you can now take that second option without leaving behind all the comforts of life. Dominica's Sea View Apartments sits 100 feet above the beautiful village of Calibishie, Dominica, on the Calibishie Ridge. Each of the five units is newly constructed and features four rooms, kitchen, living room ( with television -free wireless internet access), dining room and bathrooms. Each fully furnished unit features a rear balcony of the bedroom which overlooks the banana and coconut fields. The front verandah overlooks the village itself, the breathtaking beaches of Calibishie, the nearby islands of Guadeloupe and Marie Galante, the natural rock formations known as Hells Gate, and the Morne Aux Diables high mountains, bringing the best of the island directly to you. The Apartments Comprises of 5 newly constructed units: 3 single bedroom units located upstairs , 2 double bedroom units located downstairs, living room ( with television ), bathroom, shower, a fully equipped kitchenette. At the guest house we offer you an apartment with self service: (sheets and towels are included). Rooms are rented and maintained by the guests. A cleaner can be assigned to your room at your request with an additional cost. Clean sheets and towels are provided. After changing the Dirty sheets towels and garbage are to be placed outside the room. Car rental is recommended since the Apartments is situated on a steep hill, which offers you the most magnificent view.

If you like to cook, this page will tell you what you need to know. There are a few grocery stores in town: Alford's and Coral Reef (Austrie: nick name). You will find a lot of stuff, every morning you will have fresh locally bread and desserts. Look for walking vendors selling just-picked callalou, jam,peppers, carrots, tomatoes, spinach, and fruit. At the end of Calibishie, you will find delicious ripe fruit at a very low price. If you like fresh fish, crayfish or lobster to cook, check the local fisherman in Calibishie, close to Calibishie Lodges. Or drive 20 minutes to Marigot village and check the fisherplace there, here they have daily fresh ocean food. Planning a stay of more than a week, and cooking yourself? Your best bet is to head into the capital, Roseau, to stock up on a more extensive selection of groceries at Astaphans - Whitchurch or Brizee's and hit the local fruit market. Portsmouth also has a produce market early Saturday morning. If you don't like to cook, check the local restaurants in Calibishie: Bamboo Restaurant - Escape Bar - Atlantic Ocean Restaurant and Backyard Grill or the local BBQ on the street. Just try them.
