A beautiful stone house, La Lavandière has been lovingly renovated to create luxurious bed and breakfast accommodation in an idyllic rural setting. The house has managed to retain much of its original character and quirky features incorporating the charm of the old as well as comforts possible only with new features such as lighting and luxury en-suite facilities. The front garden abounds with lavender bushes, which is where the house gets its name, and through the French windows at the rear is a pretty enclosed courtyard providing a tranquil environment where you can enjoy your breakfast or spend some quiet time before venturing out for your evening meal. There is a café bar in the village offering a varied menu and a chance to meet the locals with excellent restaurants within a 20 minute drive.

My aim is to provide you with the most comfortable and enjoyable stay and to that end my focus has been to pay attention to every detail. I have double and twin rooms with modern, spacious en-suite facilities, beautiful antique French and Italian beds with luxurious Egyptian cotton sheets and pure wool blankets to ensure a blissful slumber. Wood and tiled floors, interesting prints and wall hangings all add to the ambiance which I hope will ensure a pleasant and unforgettable stay. For out of season visits all rooms are centrally heated. Complimentary tea and fresh coffee is available on request and served in the pretty enclosed courtyard or the dining room, depending on the season. Fresh mineral water is provided in all rooms. A substantial continental breakfast, which varies on a daily basis, includes a selection of the following: locally baked fresh croissants and baguettes; brioche; ham; cheese; homemade and locally produced conserves; fresh fruit bowl; fruit juice; fresh coffee, tea or hot chocolate and is served (depending on the season) in the enclosed courtyard or the dining room between 8:00 - 10:00 am. For those with travel plans requiring an earlier start please let me know and I will do my best to accommodate you. Wi-fi internet connection is now available using your own laptop. Vouleme is in between Ruffec and Civray in the region of the Poitou Charentes on the borders of the Charente, the Vienne and the Deux Sevres. The beautiful surrounding countryside is excellent for easy walking and cycling or painting on the banks of the river Charente. For the more energetic there is canoeing, kayaking, horse riding and fishing all close by. The delightful old market towns of Ruffec and Civray are each within a short drive with ancient churches and weekly markets brimming with fresh farm produce where locals gather to catch up on the latest gossip! The region is the second sunniest spot in France and is a totally unspoilt region with undulating golden fields of sunflowers and maize, picturesque villages, wonderful walks and rivers, Chateaux, walnut tree forests - and tranquility!
