The Barge Durandal on Canal du Midi offers accommodation on board in cosy and comfortably appointed cabins. Each has an area of 15 sq.m. and features a double bed, private access, view from both sides of the boat, private bathroom with shower, WC, washbasin, LCD TV set, internet connection, bed linen, towels, bathrobes, and bath towels. The cabins are cleaned daily. The hosts on board of Barge Durandal also offer delicious traditional French breakfast, library and collection of DVDs, full access to the common living room, dining room, terrace, sun deck with jacuzzi tub (heated), bicycles.

Our habitual mooring is situated in the midst of nature, opposite a herd of grazing cattle, at Portiragnes, a picturesque village ideally situated 6 km from Béziers, 3 km from the junction of the A9 and A75, and five minutes by bicycle from the beaches. Although we do not organise cruises, it frequently happens that we shift our position, sometimes for technical reasons ... but most often because we wish to profit fully from our mobile habitation in savouring a rich and still well-preserved nature.

It is in being independent that we realise the value of elementary things. On board the Durandal, as on all boats, everyday life is transformed immediately into energy consumption. There is no magic to prevent this, unfortunately. But the light overhead, the heated tap water, the temperature of the room, and everything that to you seems normal and natural is, aboard the Durandal, the visible result of a very high level of equipment. Careful to preserve the setting on which our lifestyle and our habitat depend, we consecrate a large part of the overall budget of our project to reducing our energy impact. High-performance insulation and general double-glazing permit us to avoid the use of energy-hungry air conditioning, without sacrificing comfort.

The central heating and hot tap water are assured by a furnace burning wood pellets, with no carbon impact on the planet. Thanks to a future module of co-generation, this same furnace will permit us, each time it is used, to produce electricity in recovering part of the energy lost through its burning. This will be reinforced by solar panels, to provide a part of our energy needs. To reduce still further our environmental impact, waste water will be treated before its discharge into the canal. Convinced that you share our enthusiasm for the environment, we will inform our guests on board the Durandal of a few simple actions which, without lessening their enjoyment and comfort, will contribute to reducing our "carbon footprint". However, our care for the environment is not accompanied by any militancy, and everyone is absolutely free.
