Garden Tour and
Tea May 3rd and 4th, 2008. Please join the Oakwood
Garden Club for a Victorian
Tea at a home in Oakwood followed by a Naturalist Guided
Garden Tour. The
club will offer two seatings at 11:30am and 1:30pm on both Saturday and Sunday. Your guide will meet you after the
Tea and take you on a stroll through Historic Oakwood, pointing out notable
garden and architectural features from some of the neighborhood's most beautiful sites. Visitors be treated to some interesting history on Raleigh's oldest neighborhood and will find many creative
gardening ideas for annuals and perennials,
garden paths and plants for sunny and shady
gardens.

one room night for two people at the Oakwood Inn with all the usual amenities including evening sippers and sweets, a certificate for
dinner at a downtown
restaurant which will cover the cost of two typical meals and taxes, gratuity is additional, and two
tickets to the show of your choice. Shows do fill fast, the earlier you make the reservations the better chance of getting the show and
room of your choice.

The Oakwood Inn is easy to find. It is an easy walk to the Raleigh Visitor's
Center and the Executive Mansion, home of North Carolina's governor. The twenty square blocks of the historic district display a colorful array of architectural styles, from Greek Revival to steamboat Gothic, providing a fascinating stroll through another time. From Route 1 North 64 East - Follow signs to 64 and 1-40 East (toward Benson), which puts you on the Outer Beltline 440. Follow to Exit 299 - Person/Hammond Street Exit. Turn left onto Person Street. Go two miles through downtown Raleigh. You will pass the Governor's Mansion on the left between Jones and Lane Street. The very next street (north of Lane) is Oakwood Avenue. Make a right onto Oakwood (the sign is hard to see because of vegetation and the Oakwood Cemetery sign). Go one block and make a left onto N. Bloodworth Street. The Inn is the third house on the left. From Highway 64 West - head toward Raleigh which will merge into the I-440 beltline. Take the Outer Beltline or I-440 west. Take the first exit #13 New Bern Avenue. Continue West towards Downtown. You will pass the Wake Medical
Center on the left. At Tarboro Street becomes a one-way and the name changes to Edenton. Continue for about nine blocks. Turn right onto North Bloodworth Street ( There is a light at East street which is the block before Bloodworth). The Oakwood Inn is 3-1/2 blocks on the left. From Interstate 95 South - At Rocky Mount, NC, take Highway 64 West towards Raleigh and follow directions above. From Interstate 95 North - At Benson, NC, tale Interstate 40 West towards Raleigh. I-40 joins the 440 Beltline just outside Raleigh. Follow to Exit 299 - Person/Hammond Street Exit. Turn left onto Person Street. Go two miles through downtown Raleigh. You will pass the Governor's Mansion on the left between Jones and Lane Street. The very next street (north of Lane) is Oakwood Avenue. Make a right onto Oakwood (the sign is hard to see because of vegetation and the Oakwood Cemetery sign). Go one block and make a left onto N. Bloodworth Street. The Inn is the third house on the left. From Interstate 85 South - take Route 1 South. It is 44 miles to Raleigh. Route 1 becomes Capital Boulevard. Continue South on Capital Boulevard to Jones Street, a one-way street going east, turn left. Proceed six blocks and turn left onto North Bloodworth Street. The Inn is 2-1/2 blocks north on the left. From Interstate 40 West - the Interstate joins the 440 beltline just outside Raleigh - follow the directions from Interstate 95 North. From Interstate 40 East, RDU
