Some excerpts from the website of Bananaquit Apartments that might be useful
Bananaquit houses 8 separate
apartments set around a peaceful
garden with tropical fruit trees. The guesthouse atmosphere is complimented by the flexibility of having self-catering facilities in each unit, for that holiday home away from home feeling. (click on photos to enlarge). Our
rooms offer a variety of layout choices and bed-types to suit each customer's needs, and each
room is provided with the following:
Kitchenette to prepare your own
breakfast.
Ensuite bathrooms with walk-in
showers. Private
balcony or
patio overlooking
garden view.
Air-conditioning and ceiling fans. Frequent
room cleaning service. Our guests also have access to an outdoor
swimming pool in the adjoining hotel, which can only be accessed through a
garden gate, to provide extra
safety for roaming toddlers. Ground floor
studio apartment. Open plan
studio apartment on the ground floor with choice of double or twins beds. Some are designed to accommodate up to four people, with a sofa bed in the
lounge area. A private
patio opens onto the

kitchenette downstairs opens through two french sliding doors into a large

bedroom with twin beds (due to open bannisters in this
room, we do not advise this area for small children). The first floor has a
private double bedroom, and a double pullout sofa in the
lounge area. There is also a full-sized
kitchen which opens onto a spacious
verandah through french doors. Separate

What to find near us: Bananaquit is ideally located on the Southern tip of Tobago in the popular Crown Point area, so we are close to many popular attractions and entertainment for the whole family. Crown point is a great location for visitors to find most of what they need to fulfill their holiday expectations. It is also a perfect base from which to start exploring the rest of the island's treasures especially if you are a first time visitor. However one does not have to travel far to visit two of the most popular beaches on the island. Storebay beach is just a 5 minute walk from Bananaquit and in just 10 minutes, you will reach Pigeon Point's waterfront. You can enjoy a further 15 minute walk along the shore to the main beach facilities. Daily glass-bottom boat
tours to Buccoo Reef and the Nylon
Pool are available from both beaches. Pigeon Point is also well-known for its more than favourable
windsurfing and kitesurfing conditions. Tobago has a reputation for some of the Caribbean's best dive sites, and Bananaquit is located close to a number of diving operators. Guests can find out further information at reception. The Crown Point area has alot to offer, and is definitely a must as part of your visit to Tobago. Our self-catering facilities are therefore ideal for allowing our guests the flexibility to sample the many and varied
bars,
restaurants, nightclubs and cafes, all within 5 to 10 minutes walk. We are also conveniently located near to
banks, boutiques, grocery
shops, fresh fruit and vegetable stalls and the Crown Point International
Airport (and don't let the proximity of the
airport fool you. Crown Point is surprisingly undisturbed by the relatively silent and infrequent flights, usually during the day when you are at the beach). Even if you do not spend your entire stay with us, it is well worth experiencing the many attractions of Crown Point either at the beginning or the end of your holiday. With the
airport so close by, you can take advantage of early check-in and enjoy the freedom to spend the rest of your day at the beach instead of in the departure
lounge. For visitor information about Tobago, we recommend
www.myTobago.info. How to get here: From Crown Point International
airport: Walk - We are no more than a 5 minute walk from the
airport. Turn right on exiting the arrivals gate, and follow the road which curves to the left past the Crown Point police station, take the first road on the right - Storebay Local road. We are approximately 100 metres down this road on the right-hand side.We do not normally provide pick up service from the
airport, because of our close proximity, however if you have a lot of luggage, you can call us (639 9733) once you have reclaimed your baggage, and we will try to arrange to at least transport your luggage.
Taxi - Alternatively, there are usually several
taxis available outside the arrivals gate. A short ride (approx. one minute) should cost about $5-10 US. From Scarborough Port Authority: Route
Taxi (public transport) - A number of route
taxis should be standing directly outside the Arrivals gate. Find the one going to Crown Point International
airport. A 30 minute ride to the
airport should cost approximately $1.00 US. Direct transport to Bananaquit
apartments is possible for an extra couple of dollars. Private
Taxi - These can be flagged down from the main road or called by
phone.The usual charge for a
trip to Crown Point area could be anything up to $10 US.
Bananaquit
apartments was built in 2002, and further renovated and enlarged in 2004. We are only a small hotel of 8 self-contained
apartments including two large family sized units, all at affordable prices to suit the traveller wishing for a longer stay. The neighboring hotel is owned by the same family, and we share a common outdoor
swimming pool, which can be accessed through a
garden gate. Our
apartments are set around a peaceful
garden with a large Mango tree at its heart and a number of other fruit trees including Cashew, Cherry, Pommecythere, Paw paw, and banana trees which attract some of Tobago's colourful birdlife. The most popular visitor is the lively little yellow breasted bird. (as seen here in this picture). This little bird can so easily be drawn to your
breakfast table with a sweet and fruity invitation. Our little friend is called a variety of names throughout the Caribbeanthe Chibichibi, the Honey creeper and Sugar bird to name a few, but here in Tobago it is known as the Bananaquit, and hence Bananaquitquot
Apartments was born.
