This landmark in the
centre of Queen street is not Big Ben but is still rather typical of small English towns - the
shops and cafes are picturesque and complement the cultural fame of the Shaw Festival which has a six month season. For a more gentile
tour of Niagara on the Lake you can discover all the back lanes and hidden views with your own personal guide controlling the reins. The origins of loyalist Canada are celebrated by this edifice just four miles away set in wonderful parkland at the end of the famous Niagara Parkway. Niagara River Bridge. This is the Lewiston Bridge which is the artery connecting New York state to Ontario - amazing views as you drive across. The famous cascade of the Northern Hemisphere is an exceptional experience to hear and see and definetly one of the seven wonders. Herbert Konzelmann started the planting of his vinyard nearly thirty years ago. He chose the shore of Lake Ontario to have the advantage of this unique microclimate in the Niagara peninsula; also the 'terroire' is very special due to the glacial origins of the region. The result is an amazing range of fine grape which produces excellent Pinot Noir and Vidal - a visit which is only five minutes by car is a definite priority. Did you know there are nearly sixty wine growers in the Niagara peninsula all producing ever more higher quality grape of amazing variety? Special

There are two mains routes into Niagara on the Lake : From South (Niagara Falls) Take the famous Niagara Parkway from Queenston into the town; pass the Prince of Wales hotel on your left and continue past the clocktower and
shops. The road becomes Queen Street and the lake
golf course is now to your right; at second turn to the left after Mississauga Street you will see Dorchester Street and proceed for just two blocks; Churchill;s Drive is on the left at corner of Gage Street. From North and West (Hamilton / St Catherine;s) Use the QEW autoroute and exit at junction indicated Niagara on the Lake - follow signs leaving small
airport on left at Stone Road. Continue through Virgil and main route into town becomes Mississauga Street. At end of
golf course take left two blocks to find Dorchester Street on your left - proceed 200 yards and Churchill;s Drive is on the left at corner of Gage Street. The railway from Toronto went through the town in Queen Street on it's way to the lake steamer dock - now a very attractive marina for yachtsmen.
Springtime has arrived and the house is now surrounded by flowering blossom in early May. The large reception
room is furnished with original English and French antiquities; guests normally welcome to share a refreshment or two. An example of one of
three rooms. The Orchid
room is authentically furnished and elegantly decorated. This is the Magnolia
room and indeed cosy yet spacious; evening sunsets and leafy views. The Azelea
room receives bright sunshine in the morning with a woodland panorama.
Bathrooms are all fitted with
shower /
bath tub combinations (Jaccuzzi in Orchid) and marble floors. All with natural light from exterior windows and luxuriously furnished. The Reception hall with family paintings. The
terraced
gardens are located amongst great willow trees and bordered by a small stream known as One Mile Creek. In the springtime lake trout come up to spawn much to the surprise of our Labradors. The rear of the property with the creek on the left. A pleasant stroll along the
terraces - cool and fresh on hot summer evenings.
