The Old Bethlehem School Cottage, once a one-room schoolhouse, now features 3 bedrooms, a bath, large, fully equipped eat-in kitchen, and living room. It is tastefully decorated in charming Americana style. The basement underneath the schoolhouse contains connections for a washer and dryer. Guests enjoy watching the morning sunrise and the evening whitetail deer passing through the meadow from the deck out of the kitchen;s French doors. Miss Carris;s Cottage features a fully equipped, large eat-in kitchen with rustic hardwood floors and authentic barn board paneled walls. The large living room features a spreading bay window across the south side of the room. A full bath with a shower is conveniently located downstairs. The upstairs features one large open bedroom, with wood cathedral ceilings, wood laminate plank floors, a toilet stall and a pedestal sink. Guests can sit on the east porch and watch the deer pass in the evening, or the sunrise in the morning above the picturesque hills of Shawnee National Forest. The sunset is beautiful in the evening from the southwest porch. The Boys; Room is a small apartment attached to the north side of Miss Carris;s Cottage. It contains a bedroom; a multi-purpose room with a sofa, t.v., microwave, sink, and mini-refrigerator. Guests love the enormous bathroom containing a washer and dryer. It is decorated in wildlife motif to please the numerous hunters coming to hunt the forest and Bear Creek Farms hunting grounds. Guests at The Boys; Room enjoy their own private porch and parking area. The cottages sit on 20 acres of meadow and woodland, with scenic views of the hills of Shawnee National Forest at a distance. Illinois Deer and Turkey Bow Hunting.  We offer a high quality hunting trip at a reasonable cost. No gun hunting is allowed on these premises. You will not be one of the herd; but, will have freedom to choose your spots and hunt methods. We want your party or family to enjoy your stay. My son, Joel Long, can give you lots of info about the trophy bucks he has seen on our farm. We charge $150 per bow hunter per day for a hunt. We require at least two hunters in your party; and, a minimum stay of three days. Your group will be the only one hunting on an entire farm. We offer a variety of available lodging which is extra. See our website. We require a deposit of 1/2 to make your reservation. We will refund $50 if you shoot a doe and your stay is for 5 days or more; however, we will charge a $500 fee for a buck with less than a 16 inside spread. We will show you the best spots we have selected for climbing stands and marked with reflective tabs on the day you arrive. You are free to choose your spots and when you hunt thereafter. We have a fridge and freezer in the middle of the Illinois farm if you wish to process your own deer. We will get info about the nearest deer processors for you.
