During your stay with us, you might like to plan a day trip to investigate some of the places of interest in the area. We'll be happy to help you work out an itinerary and organize transportation with or without guide. Here are some suggestions. Some activities can be combined into a half day trip, while others may take up a whole day. Close to Hua Hin, the Elephant Village is the place to go for an exciting ride on one of nature's biggest gentle beasts. Your elephant's mahout (keeper) will take you trekking to Wat Itisukato Buddhist Temple with its unusual statuary, then through forest terrain up to a mountain top to get a bird's eye view of Hua Hin and the sea, then, wading through a small river, back down again to the camp for an elephant show, which shows off both the intelligence and playfulness of these remarkable animals. An Evening of Thai Classical Dance and Dinner. SASI Open Air Restaurant in Hua Hin has put together a evening of Thai culture and cuisine in a beautiful garden setting not to forget. While guests enjoy a tastefully served 5-course dinner in royal Thai style, local fine arts school students present a sampling of different Thai classical dance styles accompanied by a live Thai classical orchestra. The dinner and performances start at 7pm and take approximately 2 hours. Monkey Mountain and Buddhist Temple. A visit to Khao Takiap mountain, home to lots of monkeys and Wat Khao Takiap Buddhist Temple, offers spectacular views of Hua Hin bay and beyond. This is a little side trip which can easily be combined with visits to other attractions in Hua Hin. Mrigadayavan Royal Teakwood Palace. About 20km further north of Hua Hin, the palace, which is located directly on the seaside, served as the summer residence of Rama VI and his court in the 1920's. Completely built of teakwood, and recently restored, it's well worth a short side trip. Walking along its long, airy walkways and peering into the numerous rooms and pavilions that are part of the complex give one a feel for life in those times. Entrance fees are reasonable and bicycles can be rented for a small charge for riding around the very spacious palace grounds. Authentic Thai Kickboxing can be found in two different boxing camps in Hua Hin. Half the fun is to watch the enthusiastic crowds, furiously betting on the outcome of the fights, which take place several times a week. Note: Authentic is the the key word here - the whole energy-charged atmosphere a real boxing match can't be compared to some of the 'shows' packaged for tourist consumption. Well worth a visit to see another aspect of normal Thai life and culture. The best shopping in town for whatever you're looking for, daily from 5pm. Even if you aren't in the mood for shopping, it's well worth a walk around the market to take in the bustling atmosphere with it's many sights, sounds and smells. The variety of things being sold is quite amazing! Koh Talu Snorkelling Day Trip. A day trip to Koh Talu island is a must if you have a day free for a trip a bit further away. Koh Talu is about a 2 hour drive further south of the resort. We usually leave the resort at 7.30am to catch a speed boat from the mainland to the island around 10am. The speed boat operators provide a full service package including snorkelling equipment, life vests, and a seafood lunch on the island. The fish you can see under water are breathtakingly beautiful and very numerous in number and type. The little ones like to come right up to swimmers and will eat bananas from your hand!
