We have 10 bedrooms in total, all rooms are en-suite with TV and tea and coffee facilities. Each one has been beautifully refurbished to make sure you have a relaxed and comfortable stay with us all year round. Room 1 Double room, garden view with shower. £85 per room per night. Follow the mountainside trails through 150 acres of spectacular scenery, exotic trees and 250 species of rhododendron in the garden;s dramatic Highland Glen setting and walk up the avenue of Giant Redwoods. Gallery, Cafe and Gift Shop onsite. Open March to October. Take an exhilerating high speed adventure boat ride on the Firth of Clyde. Choose from a variety of tours and see local wildlife - seals, porpoises, gannets or even a basking shark if you;re really lucky. Ideal for a rainy day or if you just love history. The museum is accommodated in a rebuilt medieval castle in the middle of Castle Gardens right above Dunoon pier. Explore the history, folklore and tradition of the Cowal area. COWAL BIRD GARDEN Just between Sandbank and Dunoon displaying a variety of exotic birds such as parrots, geese and macaws. There;s also a petting zoo which is a great favourite with the wee ones. VELVET PATH TREKKING RIDING CENTRE Forest trail and beach rides for experienced riders, as well as pony trekking or lessons for beginners. Like everyone who comes to Kames, and keeps on coming back, we want you to enjoy eating with us. All food is carefully and freshly prepared every day. We use the finest, natural ingredients to bring you a mouth-watering menu using local fresh fish and seafood, or why not try our fine scotch beef or wild venison from our local, award wining supplier Richard McIntyre from the Isle of Bute. Served between 8.30am and 9.30am, breakfast is a relaxed affair, served with a view over the ever changing sea. Take time to study the local wildlife getting up for the day or watch the local fishermen, already out chasing dinner. We keep it simple for those of you who need a gentle start with plenty of good freshly ground coffee, then why not follow it with a full Scottish breakfast bursting with sizzling Ayrshire bacon, sausages, eggs and black pudding, it may be the only way to go. Our bar menu is freshly prepared for you between noon and 2.30pm. Every day brings new specials depending on the game season or the local catch. Often there are mouth watering fresh scallops and langoustine or pheasant and venison. There is an extensive bar menu to suit all, from a tasty light lunch, to a relaxed three course treat with drinks to enjoy with friends. Choose to eat in one of our bars whilst starting the night with some real ales or a perfectly chosen bottle of wine from our wine menu, or make a night of it in the dining room where our menu is simply well prepared cuisine. We offer small portions of the same quality fare for our younger visitors.

To get to Bute, just drive to Colintraive and take the 5 minute crossing on the Calmac Ferry. Brought to the limelight by Stella McCartney;s wedding, this is an outstanding 18th century gothic building with impressive architecture, interior design and surrounding gardens. ROTHESAY CASTLE This 800 year old ruin which stands majestically in the heart of Rothesay is well worth a visit as its circular design is unique in Scotland. It is steeped in history and has seen many battles. It has been partially restored over the past 100 years. Audio-visual show detailing Viking invasion onsite. Open all year (Oct-Mar closed Thurs pm Fri). ST BLANES CHAPEL This deeply spiritual and peaceful spot is situated on the South of the Island near Kingarth and is well signposted. St Blane established a monastery here in the 6th century. Gravestones of Bishops and Abbots from the 7th 8th centuries are in the churchyard. 300m walk uphill from the road. BEACHES Ettrick Bay - Easily accessible beach with tearoom and parking. Scalpsie Bay - Slightly more remote with 5min walk through fields from carpark with spectacular view across to Arran.

Built between 1753 and 1776, Inveraray is one of the earliest and best preserved planned towns in Scotland. A good selection of shops for tourists, including a whisky shop, a heather shop, various arts and crafts shops, cafes and pubs. The impressive home of the Duke and Duchess of Argyll and headquarters of the Clan Campbell since the 15th century. Shop and Tearoom onsite. Open to the public April to October. This award winning tourist attraction is a must for those of you with kids, it;s a great day out for the whole family. Gift Shop onsite. Open all year round. Voyage back in time aboard the 3-masted Schooner the Arctic Penguin and let the kids explore Davy Jones Locker or even blow the foghorn and have a go at tying a few knots. Trips may be available on the Loch on Scotland;s last working Clyde Puffer of Para Handy fame - the Vital Spark. Scotland;s finest bells are contained within the tower of All Saints; Episcopal Church. The second heaviest ring of ten in the world! The hotel also issues fishing permits for the local well stocked Lochs only five minutes drive from the hotel, set amidst wild and beautiful scenery. We are only a short walk away from the local Kyles of Bute Golf course with its magnificent views of the Kyles, Arran and Loch Fyne the course can prove a challenge for even the best golfer. All in all, the Kames hotel is a great find, take time to visit, stay a while and you wont want to leave it behind.
