Some excerpts from the website of Marston House that might be useful
Looking for a place to stay near Leamington
Spa? Look no further. Come and stay with us, Kim and John Mahon in a superb, private, 1890's country home, Marston House, near Leamington
Spa, offering three large, light
bedrooms for bed and
breakfast (each with its own
private bathroom or power
shower), in elegantly furnished and comfortable surroundings. Marston House is in a beautiful and historic conservation village, near the site of an old Priory. The lane outside our house is known as the Welsh Road. Along it King Edward II marched his army for the Welsh conquests and the sheep were driven to the hills on the borders with Wales visible from the top of the hill. Located in a
quiet,
safe conservation village in pretty, hilly countryside. Friendly advice on what to see, how to get there or where to eat. Or eat here if booked in advance. There is also a
pub in the village giving you a chance to sample the local ales. Delicious food - Kim both studied and taught at Cordon Bleu in London. Join us for supper in the
kitchen (£25 for 3 courses on a set menu). Alternatively if you would like
dinner by yourselves in the
dining room please book in advance for not less than four people at a price to be agreed. Strategic location in Central England; Rugby, Stratford, Leamington, Warwick and Oxford are all within 30 - 40 minutes drive. So whether its Shakespeare, Castles or the University in which you are interested, be sure to stay with us! What to see and where to go? Gaydon Motor Museum, Silverstone Circuit and Stoneleigh National Agricultural
Centre are all under half an hour from here. So whether its exhibitions, shows, work, Shakespeare, Castles or the University in which you are interested, come and join the 40% repeat
business that Marston House enjoys! Off the tourist trail away from the crowds. Take time to see some less frequented tales of the turbulent past, such as the battle sites of Edgehill Cropredy and the Rollright Stones - our very own Stonehenge. Stunning
gardens such as Kiftsgate, Hidcote, Coton Manor or Ryton Organic
Gardens are an easy drive. Or you are welcome to take a book and sit in our own
garden and enjoy the setting and, hopefully the sun, on our south facing
terrace and
drink up the tranquility of our village. National Trust House such as Upton House, Broughton Castle, Canons Ashby, Farnborough Hall, Sulgrave Manor, Althorp Hall and Charlecote Park are all nearby. There are some splendid cross country walks and cycle trails straight from the house (using a map lent by us) and often with a good
pub en route for that refreshing glass of something and a delicious plateful to get you going again. English Tourism Council, Guest Accommodation - 4 Diamonds, awarded May 2002. Guests say that they arrive as guests and leave as friends. This may be why such a high proportion of the guests return for another visit.
