We have included here some comments from the visitors book that we provide to guests at the end of their stay. No matter how long we book for, we always want just that little bit longer. Our umpteenth visit and still we never tire of the warm hospitality, peaceful surroundings and all the beauty it holds. Once again a marvellous time was had by me Superb weather, splendid company and outstanding walking, who could ask for more? Our holiday just got better and better. Excellent hosts and accomodation. A well deserved reputation. Swallows, autumn colours, gooseberries, late raspberries and a celebratory drink for the 4,000 visitor to stay at The Old Rectory, made our weekend treat complete. We loved every minute and always will. Thank you for your hospitality. We need a travellers book which introduces this B B in Japan. We enjoyed staying here for just one night - next time it will be longer. Very good to have the chance to stay here after knowing the Hardy/Emma story for so many years and seeing the outside long ago. Many thanks for our garden walk and everything else. Places to Eat - Spring 2008. Guests have plenty of choices of where to eat within a short drive. Another favourite is to walk down the beautiful Valency valley to Boscastle to eat and either walk back or get the local taxi. We will update this page throughout the year as places change and our visitors comments will guide us to the best places! Over the years our guests have rated the Napoleon Bistro very highly and it is very rare we hear a bad word. The food and service is consistantly high. It only seats 22 and booking in advance is highly recommended and the table is yours for the night. If you would like to reserve a table please advise when booking and we will do it for you. Menus change daily. A typical Menu with costs. Whitebait with Tangy citrus mayonnaise £4.95 (Starters £3.50 to £4.95). Trio of Mackeral, Red Gurnard and Ling fillets with Sun dried tomatoe and chive dressing on braised Leeks £9.95 (Main Courses £9.95 to £12.95). Vegetarian main course Roast vegtable and Goats cheese Crepes with tomatoe and Basil sauce £7.95. A good choice of sweets. Bar snacks are also good here. The Bottreux House Restaurant (Closed Monday evenings). Excellent reports and booking essential, Keith the head chef had a very good write up by Paddy Burt in the Daily Telegraph. We had very good reports over the last few weeks of the 2006 season and considered to be now one of the best places to eat! The Chef has now left the Bottreux!! and we here another Chef will not be appointed before Easter - we await reports! If you would like to reserve a table please advise when booking and we will do it for you. The Riverside Restaurant. Now back in action and better than before. A lot of good comments coming from guests and they are making a real effort. Booking now a good idea! A typical Menu with costs. Starters £5.75 to £7.95. Whole local Lobster - Grilled with a lemon or garlic butter £24.95. Main course £9.95 to 24.95. Choclate and Baileys Tarte £5.50. Desserts £2.50 to £7.50. The Waterloo Restaurant at the Wellington Hotel. Some good reports now comming back by guests, and it seems to be improving all the time. Sausage and Mash £6.50. Starters £5.00 to £7.90. Main course £12.50 to £19.50. This is the closest pub which does very good bar snacks. It has large open fires a good atmosphere and very popular with the locals. It also has a non smoking restaurant with very good traditional cooking. Starters £2.40 to £3.40 Steaks £8.75 to £11.15 other Main courses £3.95 to £5.95 Salads £4.90 to £6.75 Desserts £2.95. Now back in Action - awaiting a menu and Guests comments. Guests tell us good value for money. The best reports from outside Boscastle is:- The Edge at Port Isacc booking essential. Wok fried Mussels in lemon and garlic butter with basil aioli £6.95. Starters £4.75 to £6.95. Pan roasted best end fillet of lamb on bubble and squeak with rosmary and shallot jus £16.25. Main course £12.75 to £17.50. Choice of Puddings from Board - Price unknown. Trevigue Restaurant (Between Boscastle and Crackington Haven). Open Friday and Saturday nights only and you can take your own wine. Tends to be busy in peak season. Booking essential here again let us know and we will do it for you. Booking essential. Coombe Barton - Crackington Haven. Restaurant and bar overlooking the beach and sunset on a nice evening! Some good reports. The Mill Inn - Trebarwith Strand. Restaurant and Bar snacks - We have had very good reports but service variable when busy. The Port William - Trebarwith Strand. Brilliant location overlooking the sea - most guests tell us a good place for a bar snack only. Lunchtime snack? The Wainhouse Inn - St Gennys. All home cooked food. Pleasant surroundings. 10 minutes drive from us. Some good reports. Rick Steins - Padstow - allow 40 minutes. Several guests have eaten here and none were disappointed. The cost was well worth the experience! Golden Lion - Port Issac. Some good reports of excellent food with wide choice of wines.
