Winter activities at Cedar Rail Ranch include snowmobiling, cross-country skiing, sleigh rides, ice fishing, and trail rides. Whether visiting for the day or for a week, winter outdoors enthusiasts will find that Cedar Rail Ranch Resort is ideally located, receiving abundant snow and having easy access to the northern Ontario snowmobile trail system. Cross-country Skiing Our 10km's of groomed cross country ski trails begin behind our cabins and travel back through the snow-blanketed pasture to the mixed forest. Here they wind through trees and open stretches with a few small rolling hills to test your ability. Don't worry about getting lost; every turn is marked! There are also quality cross-country ski club trails within a few minutes drive, with only a small donation to the club expected. Sleigh Rides Nothing beats a good old-fashioned sleigh ride when it comes to family fun and entertainment. It's a genuine winter wonderland at the ranch as we take you through our 55 acres of forest with Louie and Molly, our team of heavy horses. As you pass under the trees it is very tempting to shake a snow-laden branch off on your neighbor... Snowmobiling Snowmobilers will enjoy the numerous places in our area to enjoy this sport. For those touring on the snowmobile trail system, it goes by our ranch, making us easily accessible for overnight accommodations. Horseback Riding Our horses are ridden year round, so trail rides are continuous throughtout the year. Please book ahead for winter riding and conditions. Ice Fishing For those who love to ice fish, our area has an abundance of lakes to fish from. All are easily accessed by snowmobile. Winter fun and fishing at its best!

Accommodations while a guest at the Ranch. Housekeeping Cottages. Cedar Rail Ranch offers several modern housekeeping cottages for vacation rental. Cabins located at the Ranch are housekeeping and are equiped with all the utensils for preparing your own meals while vacationing. Each cottage sleeps six people, with two double beds and a pull out couch. All towels and linens are supplied for your stay. Outpost Camps Two outpost camps located on Tunnel Lake are also available for vacation rental. If its seclusion and mere peace and quiet, these are ideal. For those looking for something closer to nature, these camps are it! Simple living at its best! These two outpost camps have no inside bathrooms. The smaller camp consists of a bunkhouse with four bedrooms, a sitting room, a wood stove, propane lights and is set up for a generator (you may bring your own). A separate cookhouse with a fridge and stove, utensils and dishes and a propane heater is located near the sleeping camp. This camp can sleep eleven people (please bring your own towels and sleeping bags for these outpost camps). Both camps have beautiful sand beaches, well suited for families with young children, who are seeking peace and quiet and natural surroundings. Enjoying the luxury of simple living is what we offer while vacationing at our Outpost Camps. The Ranch's close proximity to snowmobile trails, hiking trails and Crown land is ideal for snowmobilers, ATVers, hunters, hikers, naturalists and horseback riding enthusiasts.

Kids' Camp at Cedar Rail Ranch. Just a few of the many activities during Kids' Camp One of the most unique packages that we offer, is our Kids' Camp. Geared to kids ages 9-15. With the many activities of this program pertaining to both winter and summer seasons, its sure to delight and entertain, as well as educate any child of these ages. Basic horse care, along with western riding lessons, horsedrawn sleigh rides, trail riding, skating, tobogganning, cross country skiing, snowshoeing, icefishing, bonfires in winter, while summer programs offer supervised swimming and numerous water activities. Both packages include delicious home cooked meals. Any child interested in pursuing animal care or anything in the animal field can benefit by enrolling in any of our Kids' Camp. Media coverage We were featured in one of our local newspapers. Our March Kids' Camp was a success. The Spring break was a busy time for us here at the ranch. A school bus load of kids also spent a day here. Many activities happening kept everyone busy, and the fisherman went home happy. School buses are welcome, please book in advance. With the popularity of horseback riding, it was only natural to expand to offering cabin rentals to people interested in this sport and experience. Large waterways for boating, sight seeing, hiking and fishing are also enjoyed by our guests. We offer guided boating tours or rentals and outfitting equipment for river runs, for your convenience. Scenic Views at Cedar Rail Ranch. This is just some of our scenery in this area. The lakes, at times as clear as glass, alone, can be breathtaking as well as peaceful. The maple, poplar, oak and birch trees all turning spectacular colours in September is also a sight to behold. The many species of birds in our area, is for great for bird watching. Along with the other wildlife that you can sometimes get a glimse of, makes a wonderful experience for those who don't get the chance to see natures' animals at play.
