Somerset Holiday Cottage. [The Tallet Cottage]. Tallet is an old Somerset word meaning hayloft and so the name of this cottage reflects its original purpose. It was converted from a bakehouse and hayloft in 1995 and today provides very comfortable self catering accommodation. Many original features have been preserved, including the stone staircase, flagstone flooring, the bakehouse oven door and an inglenook fireplace. Adjacent to Clanville Manor farmhouse, The Tallet is situated on a working farm. The secluded setting is idyllic and peaceful, but the busy town of Castle Cary is just 2 miles away. The maximum occupancy is 4 adults and up to 2 children and there are

coffee making facilities. The Four-Poster
bedroom, which has a six-foot wide opulent four-poster bed and an ensuite
shower room, is furnished with mahogany
furniture including a wardrobe that has been in the house for at least 80 years. The main window faces south and overlooks the front
garden with a lavender bed in the summer and many snowdrops in winter. From the Four-Poster
bedroom you can also see the 'archway' leading to the farmyard through our old stone barn - one of very few 'unconverted' barns in Somerset! The
shower room faces west and overlooks the Magnolia tree. The second
room has twin beds, that can be 'linked' together to form a super-king double bed, and an
ensuite bathroom with a
shower over the
bath. The wardrobe and dressing table in here belonged to Sally's grandmother who lived to the ripe old age of 97! This
room catches the morning sun and overlooks the pond where the mallard ducks live. The third
bedroom is a single and has an ensuite
shower room. Refurbished during March 2006, this
room has a very 'French' theme and faces west to catch the beautiful sunsets. It is brightly lit by the Magnolia blossom in April. The fourth
bedroom has a 'King' size five-foot double bed, waxed pine
furniture, and a spacious ensuite
shower room. It can be let as a
single room for a small supplement if the
single room is already let. It also faces west for sunset viewing, and you can see the walled
garden and the trees that border the River Brue.
