The perfect place to stay on Weatherbury Farm ( October 1993 ). Farm living doesn't necessarily mean roughing it at Weatherbury. There are five different
rooms or
suites on the farm, all comfortably appointed with antique furnishings and claw-foot
tubs, as well as modern conveniences such as
refrigerators and
air conditioning.. Pittsburgh Magazine, Weatherbury Farm...combines bed and
breakfast accommodation with life on a working farm and the chance to get your kids actively involved.. To stay at Weatherbury Farm is to experience the richness and warmth of a period when welcoming friends or strangers was a cultivated art. Our
guest rooms and
suites, located in a cluster of restored historic farm buildings, are lovingly furnished with an old-fashioned country charm. All
rooms and
suites have
en-suite bathrooms and are
air-conditioned.

rooms and
suites are located in a cluster of historic buildings. A brief description of the
rooms and
suites is below. Click on a link to see pictures and more details about each
room/
suite. A
telephone and
television for guest use are located in the common areas. There is a propane
grill located outside the Livery Hall and a microwave in the Livery Hall for guest use. The

Suite Details: Downstairs
living rooms have original 2 inch oak planks, joists and beams. Heated by gas burning fireplace. Upstairs
bedroom has a cathedral ceiling, rising 20 feet. The floors are the original yellow pine flooring from the hayloft. The
bedroom opens onto a deck over-looking the pasture.
Bathrooms (ensuite, also on the 2nd floor) have old fashioned clawfoot
tub with a
shower and pull-chain
toilets.
Suites have a small
refrigerator for guests' use.

air-conditioned and have ceiling fans. The Carriage House

refrigerator for guest use. Sleeps 7. (3 adults max) We're staying in the Carriage House, one of three two-story
suites in the newly renovated guest barn that's perfect for the four of us. First is a
living room with two sleeper sofas, a gas fireplace and plenty of running-around
room. Up in the old hayloft area, the
bedroom boasts one queen and one single bed -- which our three-year old immediately claims as her 'big-girl farm bed' -- covered in charming, worn-soft lines of red-and-cream ticking and Laura Ashley florals. An ancient trunk hold extra
pillows and blankets, while the
bathroom has a real claw foot
tub and a pull-chain

Room (opening in 2008/9). Located in the one-story addition made to the Livery, the Tack
Room has a sitting area and a wonderful view out of large corner windows of the meadow. The ensuite
bath has a wonderful old
tub for soaking (but with lower sides than a clawfoot for easy accessibility). The Summer
Kitchen Rooms have a small
refrigerator for guests' use, are
air-conditioned, have ceiling fans and have
ensuite bathrooms. Tucked under the tin roof. Blue sponge painted walls. King (converting to 2 twins) daybed. En
suite bath with clawfoot

refrigerator for guest use. Sleeps 3. (3 adults max. 3rd adult on daybed). Our
room was 'mother's sewing
room,' a charming wood-floored, slant-roofed cubby with two skinny windows and a big view of a sunlit cow pasture. The king-sized bed and daybed were comfy and prettily appointed in blue and white. Knickknacks featuring a sewing theme were in abundance, and the
bathroom boasted a claw-foot

Room, had a black-and-gold foot-pedaled Singer machine as part of the decor, drawing Arjun and Araxi's attention for hours. They also inspected the steamer trunk, which stored

Area Activities while visiting Weatherbury Farm Vacation. Farm and Area Activities Calendar. Pittsburgh Magazine, July 1997. Set in an area of natural
beauty, Weatherbury Farm offers a stopping-off place for exploring the many attractions of the area. Opportunities for bicycling hiking, fishing, horseback riding and
golf abound. A number of museums are conveniently located to the farm. Livestock auctions, covered bridges, farm markets, factory
tours, shopping, sporting events, a winery, and zoo offer other nearby places to visit during an escape to the tranquility of Weatherbury Farm. The many attractions of Pittsburgh, the Laurel Highlands, panhandle West Virginia and eastern Ohio are within easy driving distance. Area Attractions (within 45 minutes of the farm).
Bike Walking trails. One-hour loop hiking, biking horse trail can be accessed from the east entrance of the park off Little Mingo Road. A lengthy perimeter trail can be access throughout the park. Also picnicking 2 covered bridges. Bicycle, riding and walking trails (crushed limestone surface). Also picnic areas, and playgrounds. 4 miles crushed limestone trail. 29 miles of crushed limestone, recycled asphalt and original ballast extending from Colliers Cove Rd in WV to McDonald Trail Station in McDonald, ending at Walker's Mill in Allegheny County. RACCOON CREEK STATE PARK. Numerous hiking trails, 3 miles of bridle trails; also picnic areas. RACCOON CREEK STATE PARK - WILDFLOWER RESERVE Eastern boundary of Raccoon State Park. 5.6 miles of hiking trails; one of the most unique stands of native wildflowers in Western Pennsylvania. The hiking trails wander through fields, forests, meadows and along Raccoon Creek. In the end of April, guided wildflower walks are very popular. To protect the wildflowers, pets are prohibited. bike and walking trail along the Ohio River, with benches. WASHINGTON COUNTY AREA. 24 covered bridges listed on the National Register of Historic Places. If you will be visiting covered bridges during your Weatherbury Farm stay, please ask for a covered bridge guide. CREEGAN ANIMATION FACTORY. Three-floor factory/craft showcase where artists and crafts people design, sculpt, decorate, and mechanize animated creatures. FIESTA (HOMER LAUGHLIN CHINA). Largest domestic pottery. Has manufactured Fiesta and other china products for over 120 years.

bank building has been restored (and is an inspiration for those of us hoping to restore the Lincoln National
