Visit the Award Winning A Taste of Alaska Lodge. We Offer the Flavor and A Taste of Alaska, All Year Round. View the Aurora Borealis from our secluded property! See Our Aurora Photo Gallery! About the Aurora: The Aurora is very dynamic and exhibits systematic motions on a global scale. The Aurora's light is produced by a high vacuum electrical discharge. An electrical discharge is the passage of electricity through thin gas usually accompanied by a glow, arc or spark. Energy from the sun creates the Aurora. Auroral color depends on the type of atoms and molecules struck by the energetic particles. Aurora Borealis (which you can see from Alaska) means 'Dawn of the North.' Throughout a single night, the auroral display varies in intensity and form according to a process know as the auroral substorm. Auroral activity varies from year to year because the sun is more or less active according to an eleven year cycle. For More Information About the Aurora, Feel Free to Contact:

Aurora Viewing, Dog Mushing, Gold Mining and More... View the Aurora Borealis from oursecluded property! Experience Alaska Outdoors. Alaska is famous for its outdoor activities: From dog sledding and hiking to snow machining, and spectacular Northern Lights during the winter months. A Taste of Alaska Lodge provides opportunities to enjoy all these activities on our own private property. A favorite activity for our Winter guests is dog sled rides. Enjoy a 45 minute dog mushing
tour with PAWS for Adventure, with views of the Alaska Range mountains and Mt. McKinley, stopping at a natural spring and other points along the way for photo opportunites. Relax and enjoy the experience riding with the Alaskan huskies only at A Taste of Alaska Lodge. Another favorite Alaskan attraction during the Winter is our famous Northern Lights. A Taste of Alaska's secluded location is perfect for watching the Aurora Borealis without interference from city lights. Enjoy them outdoors, or watch through the windows from the warmth and comfort of your
room. During the summer guests may miss out on the Aurora, but they can enjoy the outdoors late into the night thanks to our long daylight hours. Enjoy hiking around the Lodge property, or sitting and relaxing by our pond after
dinner. Initial construction on the pond began in Fall 2002, and finished in May 2003. The original Permalon liner withstood JD 450 tractor tracks, but couldn't handle Alaskan moose hooves. In May of 2004 the original liner, torn in over 20 places, was removed and replaced with a more durable shot-creted finish. The pond has 50,000 gallons of water circulating at 90 gallons per minute, originally pumped 2000 feet from our natural spring on the lower part of the property. It is a favorite gathering spot for local moose and other wildlife, especially during the Summer months. We keep the pond stocked with goldfish when the weather is warm, and winter the fish in our hot
tub building. Feel free to contact us for more information about seasonal activities available during your stay. We may also be able to recommend and/or make reservations for other local activities for your convenience. We are pleased to recommend whale watching
tours and other activities at. Alaska Saltwater Lodge as well. Ask us about reservations while you're here!
