Fairnie House is a lovely old centrally situated Georgian townhouse. The name 'Fairnie' is taken from the earliest title deeds of the property where the first recorded owner was Isobel Fairnie. The house is a 'C' listed building dating from c.1750. All bedrooms are on the ground floor and have TV, central heating, hairdryers, tea/coffee making facilities complimentary WIFI if you have a lap top computer. Two bedrooms have en-suite facilities while the third has its own private showerroom across the hall. A stone staircase leads up to the first floor where we have the guests' dining room. The central location of Fairnie House is perfect for all that St Andrews has to offer. The Abbey ruins are only 150 metres away, The Byre theatre and restaurant is a near neighbour while the old working harbour and East Sands beach can be reached within 5 minutes. Restaurants, shops, university and the Tourist Information Centre are all within easy reach and the famous Golf Links will only take a very interesting 15 minutes walk to reach. £29.00-£41.00 per person per night depending on season based on two people sharing. For single occupancy, the standard twin only is available with a £12 supplement. For advance bookings the minimum is a two night stay, although we will accommodate requests for one night if they can be slotted into existing bookings as well as passing trade if there is space available. Check-in / out times. Check in from 4-6pm or by prior arrangement. However it is very helpful if we can be advised of your actual expected arrival time. Rooms should be vacated by 10am on day of departure. Fairnie House is on a busy main road and traffic can be heavy at peak times. However, all bedrooms have double glazing. The central location means that amenities from historical sites through to shopping and dining out are close at hand. There is limited free parking directly outside the B B which can be used on a first come, first served basis. It is also possible to load / unload then park elsewhere. There are one or two streets within walking distance as well as the harbour, about 5 minutes away, where parking is free. One dedicated space, directly outside the front door, is reserved for blue badge holders. Parking elsewhere is charged at 70p per hour (2 hour max) and restrictions are in force from 9-5pm. St. Andrews is a cosmopolitan town and this is reflected in the number of cafes and restaraunts which offer something for all tastes and budgets. It's worth noting that booking is probably essential at peak times, especially during graduation, prestigious golf tournaments and high summer. The usual 'high street' shops are available in nearby Market Street, also many privately owned stores offering more unusual and different gifts and foodstuffs. The local Tourist information office is only five minutes walk away and, as well as offering information regarding local amenities and events, they also have a great selection of Scottish gifts. fairnie house is a non-smoking establishment.
