Bench Cottage is a semi detached bungalow providing Self catering holiday accommodation. It is designed to cope with nearly everyone's needs, especially those less able, as it is wheelchair friendly. The accommodation comprises of an open-plan kitchen, lounge, dining area, and two bedrooms, all to a very high standard of decoration and comfort. Sleeping up to four people including well behaved children and babies. A cot or travel cot can be provided but please bring your own baby bedding. The photo shown here is the layout of Bench Cottage. The kitchen is fully equipped, having split level work surfaces, electric oven, gas hob, microwave, fridge with ice box, dishwasher and washer/dryer. All kitchen utensils, cutlery and china are supplied, in fact everything you are likely to need to make your stay pleasant, relaxing and enjoyable. The lounge and dining area have comfortable seating, including a electric riser/recliner chair, a colour teletext television, video, a CD player, cassette and radio. A selection of books, video of the New Forest and leaflets on the whole area to help plan your holiday. A gate leg dining table and four dining chairs make this a delightful room. This is the master bedroom has two electric adjustable head and foot riser beds which work independently and can be made up as a 6 foot double or twin, with access all round. The second smaller bedroom is a twin access to the beds is from the centre of the room with a bedside cabinet, radio alarm clock and bedside light and free standing wardrobe. All beds will be made up with lovely fresh linen, duvets and pillows before your arrival. If staying more than a week fresh linen will be supplied and if you would like us to, we will change the beds for you at no extra charge. Extra blankets and pillows are available on request. Twin bedded room with access down the centre. Bath and Hand towel available for each gues. The modern fully accessible bathroom has floor level shower, electric shower and grab rail. The adjustable washbasin can be lowered for those who need a lower basin for comfort. The toilet is access friendly too with drop down rails if required and space both sides for lateral transfer. A set of towels for each room will be provided. We also have wheel-in shower chairs and a electric portable hoist if required. Bench Cottage like Little Bench has gas central heating and constant hot water. Electricity is charged by meter reading on arrival, and read again with you before departing, when the number of units used must be paid for. To the outside there are garden tables and chairs, a large parking and turning space, all hard standing with tarmac and easy level access to your front door. Bookings are taken from Friday to Friday so you can enjoy the Lymington market. Short breaks may be available in quieter times, Friday to Monday and Monday to Friday. At Christmas a decorated tree is included for your enjoyment. We are sorry we cannot cater for pets. Lymington has many restaurants, public houses and takeaways, an antiques centre and lots of individual shops, as well as one or two multiple stores. Discover the hidden park behind the shops, or a visit our market which is held every Saturday from 8am till 4pm summer and winter, where you can purchase everything you need for that perfect holiday. All within a 20 minute walk or 5 minutes by car. A map giving directions will be found in your cottage. The New Forest now a National Park is only 2 miles away where 93,000 acres of Forest are waiting for you to explore. Catch the New Forest Ponies wondering through some of the villages, walk through the enclosures and see if you can spot a Fallow or Red Deer. Just remember that the ponies can kick and that there is a forty mile an hour speed limit on unfenced Forest roads. Come in the spring when the young foals can be seen everywhere, sit in the shade of the forest or on the cliff tops in the summer sun. In the Autumn come and see the splendour of the autumn colours, and in winter the forest is a magical place and there are so many attractions and museums to visit and you will find all the details in your cottage. A lovely annexe accommodation for two with an open plan design. Entrance leads into small lounge area with 2 seater settee and an easy chair which leads to the huge 6 foot bed or can be twin bedded. The wall mounted television is view-able from the bed or the lounge area. To the side there is a dining area between the shower room and the kitchen. The shower room has a floor level shower, wc and washbasin, and heated towel rail, with towels for your use. The separate kitchen comes with toaster,kettle, larder fridge, microwave and a small two burner electric oven/grill. A wide selection of kitchen utensils are supplied including all cutlery, saucepans, dishes, china tea, towels and hand towel. Grandmas Retreat is also suitable for the disabled with a helper, wheel-in shower chair available. Included in your accommodation is a Radio alarm clock with CD player, and if staying more than one week we will change your bed-linen for you. From Grandmas Retreat it is only a five minute walk to the village shops with its two public houses, chemist, bakers, fish and chip shop, and a one stop store. A twenty minute walk or five minutes by car will take you to the lovely Georgian yachting town of Lymington, with its many restaurants and public houses and takeaways. Saturday's in Lymington has a lovely street market selling everything you could think off. Lymington is situated on a River so you have marinas, yacht haven and lovely walks along the river front. You can also take a boat trip to the Isle of Wight. Just 2 miles to the right from Grandmas Retreat you will find the open New Forest which has 93,000 acres waiting for you to explore. To visit some parts of the New Forest you will need a car but we do have mountain bikes for hire for those who like a leisurely ride.
