Centres
The Lancaster Town House is located on Caton Road, just a pleasant stroll from the town
centre of this glorious city that attracts visitors and
business travellers throughout the year. Lancaster is surrounded by wonderful attractions and scenery, with the Forest of Bowland and the Lune Valley just beyond the city limits. Lancaster is a perfect place for an overnight stop on your way to the nearby Lake District or as a base to explore the surrounding countryside. The city’s position on the coast and by the river, led to its development as a one of England’s main trading ports in the 18th century. Today the narrow and leafy Georgian streets are home to a wide variety of
shops,
restaurants and lively
pubs. The skyline is dominated by the imposing Lancaster Castle, situated majestically above the River Lune. This medieval castle has defended the town since the Roman era but more recently it has been used as the
centre for regional justice. Other attractions nearby include the Priory Church of St Mary and the 17th century Judges Lodgings that are now home to a museum. The museum is well worth a visit to view
furniture made by Gillows of Lancaster and the fascinating Museum of Childhood. A
trip to Williamson Park, Lancaster’s highest point, offers great views of the town, Morecambe Bay and the Lakeland Hills. Leave the M6 at junction M6/J34 and follow the A683 (Caton Road) in the direction of LANCASTER / Morecambe. Follow the A683 for a mile and you can find us near to the shell service station on the right-hand side. Lancaster Town House, 11-12 Newton
