Sandy was originally named Revenue because of Francis Revenue's nearby land claim and the location of the Barlow Trail's toll gate on Revenue's claim from 1853 to 1865. The town was able to use the name Sandy only after Troutdale gave up the use of the name at the turn of the century. Links to area information: Oregon
