Rowing, Sailing and Windsurfing are available at Talkin Tarn which lies at the foothills of the Pennines. It takes around 30 minutes to walk around the tarn. There is a tea room open most of the year. The tarn itself is 65 acres, 42 feet deep. However Talkin Tarn Country Park covers 183 acres. The lake is fed by underwater springs and is very cold in places. Locals will tell you that there is a small submerged town under the tarn. The Lanes Shopping Centre Carlile Town Centre. The Lanes Shopping centre is located in the centre of Carlisle. Carlisle is an award winning town centre, with a clean pedestrianised main street, it always looks pretty with beutiful hanging baskets and trees situated all around the centre.
