Allan and I and our family have enjoyed living in our home since we constructed it in 1992. The house is situated on a sub-dividable view property that is just shy of one acre. It enjoys a very private treed setting, yet faces south, gets lots of sun and has a wonderful sea view. The house was custom built and designed based on the design of the B.C. forestry homes of the 40's. It is a classic West Coast design with gambrelled Cedar Shake roof with 6 dormers. The siding is a faux wood vinyl in Cape Cod Gray and all the windows are vinyl clad, double glazed with the south facing windows being Low-E glass. You enter the house on the main floor which has a level-entry, with a two story foyer which leads into a large open concept kitchen/living/dining room. There is a three piece bathroom on this floor as well as a large utility room and a den/bedroom. The kitchen is equipped with a Thermador gas range with down draft venting and a convection oven, a new dishwasher and an American sized side-by-side fridge/freezer with built in ice maker and water. The cupboards are natural pine made on the Sunshine Coast and there is a triple stainless sink with garburator. The floors on this level are old growth edge grain Fir milled and supplied locally. There is a gas fireplace in the living room, a gas barbeque on the deck and a chimney fitting for a gas fireplace downstairs. There are two sliding doors leading to a large deck which has safety glass inserts in the aluminium railings so as not to impede the view. Upstairs there are two large bedrooms with 3 closets per room and lots of storage space. There is a large bathroom with jetted tub, separate shower and pedestal sink. The downstairs suite is accessed through the house or from a separate entrance. The floors on this level are Oak and there is a fairly new fridge, electric range and dishwasher as well as a stacking washer and dryer in the kitchen. There is a lounge area, 3 bedrooms and a 3 piece bathroom on this level. There are three sliding doors on this level, leading to a new covered deck. The house was built using the finest materials available at the time of construction. There is a gas-fired hot water zoned heating system and heat recovery ventilation system as well as a built in vacuum all of which are located in the boiler room on the lower level. There is also a roughed in alarm system. The property enjoys a view from every angle. Most of the property is fenced and it is completely landscaped, has two spring fed ponds, large Cedar trees and a large variety of shrubs and fruit trees some dating back to the Anderson family who occupied the original property in the 30's. There is a cement driveway and an exposed aggregate courtyard at the front of the house. There is ample parking for 5 or 6 cars. There is a trail running from the top end of the property which was built by the town and this connects to the upper town and also goes down to quaint, eclectic Gibsons Landing and the harbour.
