Tour! The New Old Bailey. From it's beginning in 1907, The Bailey Hotel has been the
center of Community Activity. Domino tournaments and bridge
games have drawn their share of willing contestants casually sipping their
coffee or
tea, and, who can not wonder if the occasional 'mint julip' passed those willing lips. Now, with the complete remodeling of the hotel, the past can be revisited. Old friendships can be reunited, and new acquaintances can be sparked with the flint of the past. and the desire to return to those 'good ole' days'. The Management Staff of the Bailey wish to invite all to celebrate the reconstruction of not only wood and stone, but of days long since past.
Central Louisiana is one of the most easy-going places in the world, especially Avoyelles Parish. The local people are hard-working and friendly, especially to strangers. Our unique outlook on life makes all our guests feel welcome and gives those the feeling of being 'at-home'. Primarily a farming community, you will find many folks in the
dining room at 5 a.m. wide-awake and enjoying
coffee and a genuine home-cooked
breakfast. A hunters paradise indeed! You are in Duck Hunting Haven. Toledo Bend Reservoir is the mother of many of our local
skiing and fishing recreational parks such as Indian Creek, 10 minutes away. Lake Chicot, 10 miles in the opposite direction is 2000 acres of cypress trees, tupelo gum, and is a fisherman and campers dream. Antique shopping is everywhere!! Sometimes you have to dig a little to find the out of the way places and then again sometimes they stare you in the face. Antique merchants love to 'deal and cut their prices to make you happy and the status-quo is lagnaippe which means 'something extra'. So, during your stay, get out and just try to get lost, you'll find treasure and good-natured people in abundance. Don't worry about getting lost, some one will direct or even bring you home, back to. 'The New Old Bailey Hotel
Typically, the
rooms were tiny compared to some of the spacious accommodations found today. While many of the
rooms were left as they were, some were combined to form the
Suites. These
rooms accent the old world charm with new
whirlpool baths and Victorian period
furniture so that your stay will be memorable.
