Of course, not all eating is done in the
dining room. Beyond our Tuesday morning chuckwagon
breakfast tucked in a beautiful meadow up behind the main lodge, there are several other opportunities to dine al fresco mountain-style. Each week we host a Mexican
poolside luncheon and evening steak ride. Some anglers prefer a box
lunch so they can stay on the stream all day. But, the tradition most loved by returning guests? Our Friday
lunch fish fry, streamside at station 15 with freshly cooked trout and an oh-so-cold beer.
For some, no amount of fly fishing a gently tumbling trout stream will ever satisfy their desire to bend a rod again tomorrow. For others, variety is the spice of vacation. We offer plenty of family activities. Go horseback riding. Shoot some trap or sporting clays. Swim. Hike. Mountain
bike. Jog. Take a quick
trip into nearby Creede, one of the very last miners boom towns that sprung up in Colorado. Today, you can mine this charming town's
shops for local crafts, or catch a musical at the renowned Creede Repertory Theatre.
We are meticulous about satisfying our guest's sophisticated palates. We recruited our chef, Wray Warner, from the Four Seasons, Jackson Hole. Specialties include rack of lamb and seared ahi tuna, plus fine wines and delicious desserts made daily. Evening menus include two specialty
dinners plus a core menu featuring favorites such as smoked beef, pan roasted chicken and a pasta selection.
Lunches are as light as a salad or, if you prefer, as ambitious as a hearty bowl of soup and a sandwich.
The
rooms in our various lodges on the ranch property are spacious and inviting. You'll find plenty of space in your
closet and lots of leg
room on your porch. The
showers are hot. Water pressure is invigoratingly strong. While evenings are brisk here in the mountains, you'll be cozy under the covers. Dawn will awaken both your body and your soul, as every new day brings another set of 4UR adventures yet to unfold... and another evening in which to plan your next day here at the ranch.
AARON AND ROBIN CHRISTENSEN, Ranch Managers. This energetic couple keeps our operation in top shape, with every guest need anticipated. Have a question or request? Aaron or Robin will have the answer. Their deep experience in ranch management has helped us to build a staff of some of the finest folks who will ever wait on you hand and foot. They have four children: Cole, Kylie, Luke and Laci. ANDY LEE, Head Guide. Andy is the man to turn to with queries as simple as, what's coming off today, or as advanced as, I keep getting a tailing loop when I try to cast far and fine. Andy puts countless hours on ranch waters. His easy-going style, deep insight into trout behavior and dining habits, tireless work ethic and genuine care for our guests make 4UR angling all it's reputed to be. He or his guides can get you into fish. Big ones. WRAY WARNER, Chef. You won't lack for great dining at the 4UR, and credit for that goes to Wray. Wray's fare has graced the tables of some of the finest resorts in North America, from the Four Seasons in Jackson, Wyoming to the Lake Placid Lodge in New York. Here at our ranch he puts his formidable culinary skills to work in magical ways to make sure the 4UR dining experience and wine list are unsurpassed in every way. DAMON GIBBONS, Head Wrangler. Damon is our very own horse whisperer. An advocate and practitioner of Natural Horsemanship, Damon applies the principles of that holistic approach in a way that makes 4UR riding far more than just plodding along the trails. Whether you're an old pro in the saddle, or a true greenhorn, Damon and his wranglers can teach you things about horses and horsemanship you probably never knew. KATHY ADELMAN, Front
Desk. You can ask to talk to anyone here but, if you call, the odds are good it'll be Kathy's fair voice on the other end of the line. Kathy's bright spirit and genuine helpfulness have been a part of the 4UR guest experience for years. She gets it right, does it right and/or makes it right, regardless of the situation. PETE AND LINDSEY LEAVELL, Owners. If you happen to see Pete or Lindsey during your visit, be sure to say hello. The 4UR has been in the Leavell family for nearly 40 years. During all of that time, they have lovingly maintaining this majestic property for the enjoyment of guests from across the country and around the world.
Fifteen fly fishing stations are marked off along Goose Creek as it twists its way through the valley. Four stations are on the famed Rio Grande River and Beat 20 is in the Weminuche Wilderness. The waters hold a myriad of trout: rainbows, browns, snake river cutts, cutt-bow hybrids and even brookies. You may also take a guided fishing
trip above timberline to Lost Lakes for rare Rio Grande cutts, or fish Station 21, a trophy pond in the ranch valley. All waters are catch and release, fly fishing only except for Walton Pond, ideal for kids.
Not all guest ranch fly fishing is the same. We divide the 4UR Ranch waters into 20 stations. Each Colorado evening as
dinner winds down, Aaron Christensen, ranch manager and fly fishing guide, escorts a shake bottle from table to table. The evening lottery has begun. The lottery winner chooses the 1/3 mile station he would prefer to fish the next morning. Other anglers follow until the lowest lottery draw selects. Afternoons, the order is reversed, assuring every angler fishes with privacy on prime water almost every day.
Lodging at the 4UR Ranch is divided among several unique structures on the property. Each lodging option is named after one of the famous local mines that spurred one of the last great silver mining rushes in Western history in nearby Creede, Colorado. Each afternoon, a bucket of ice is placed by your door so you can retire to your porch with a cool beverage. Your bed is turned down during
dinner.
Rooms vary, but are all ideal for a week or two in this spectacular setting. Here, sleep comes easy. Dreams come true.

Horseback riding in the Colorado mountains may be the ultimate Western experience;one you and your family likely are never to forget. Wranglers at the 4UR are accomplished in Natural Horsemanship and can share the special insights of this approach to riding with you. Between our arena and extensive trail system, youll find many opportunities to improve your riding skills or simply become comfortable in the saddle. We also have a junior wrangler program for youngsters. Everything is included. Just bring a sense of adventure.
To get to the 4UR Ranch, find your way to south-central Colorado. We recommend Highway 285, whether you are driving from Denver or Albuquerque. It is the most efficient, and far more scenic than the interstate, as well. Drive to South Fork. From South Fork follow signs to Creede. The ranch is on the left side of the road just after Cottonwood Cove, 13 miles from South Fork. The historic mining town of Creede is seven miles farther. You may also fly from Denver to Alamosa, where we will be more than happy to pick you up and dring you to the ranch.
