Banff Pictures Rocky Mountain History. This was a really convenient place to stop along the beautiful Bow Valley Parkway. Our cabin was rustic... just the way we like it!... peaceful and quiet and set back in the woods. It had three beds, all very comfortable, and gave us a good night's sleep. The walk along the creek to the falls was a great little hike with pretty views all the way... loved the sound of the rushing water below. As it happens, the airline had lost some of our luggage back in Calgary, and when it was finally located and delivered to the Johnston Canyon Resort, the staff thoughtfully placed it in our cabin while we were out for a walk. We have good memories of this place. Portland, Maine, USA. Various log cabins among the trees. Rooms are clean, well decorated, have fridg...

The prominent location of the hotel and restaurant was convenient to both motor travellers and rail passengers arriving in Banff. The restaurant is the only remaining portion of the original Homestead Hotel complex. The rustic log interior and stucco Tudor exterior remain true to the original design.
