Woohoo! New Year at the Tyax lodge... well not really, it turned out to be my regular run of the mill new year with me being in bed after two beers by 9:30. I was up at the ski lodge for a week of training in anticipation of the ski season. I was the fill in guy. Todd Cooper was the main pilot up there, he had worked there previously for the helicopter company that held the contract prior to us. I would spell him off when he took time off so I ended up doing two or three week long tours there throughout the winter. It is a nice area with not bad flying conditions (if you ignore the wind!) and a great bunch of guides which definitely made the work easier. Things to do near the Dream Catcher Inn are as varied as they are many. Located in the heart of the Monashees, Rockies and the Cariboos, 25 minutes from Mt. Robson affords the winter recreationalist ample opportunity to enjoy the winter experience. Valemount and area is renown for excellent snowmobiling particularly in the alpine areas. Many groomed and maintained trails provide access to vast alpine areas for the experienced rider, while nearby trail ride routes are available for novice riders. All interior spaces have individually controlled heating and air conditioning. The lodge features the most advanced fire protection available including smoke detectors, enunciators, emergency lighting in all halls, and a computer controlled fire surveillance system to identify potential problems. We can provide babysitting and porterage to our guests. Currency exchange is available and we can provide service in German. The front desk remains open from 7am to 11pm daily.
