History of the White House BB. Initially constructed in the 1820's for a member of the Law Society of Upper Canada and whilst the town was then known as Newark, the first capital of Upper Canada, later the Province of Ontario and one of the first four signatories to the union of the Canadian colonies as Canada, under the auspices of the 1867 British North America Act with Quebec (Lower Canada)and the colonies of Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island. The home has had a succession of owners of prominence from both the Canadian and American sides of the Niagara River.
