Directly in front of the Collegiata Church of San Quirico DOrcia stands Casa Lemmi, inhabited for over a millennium and originally Norman, once the refuge of the Knights Templar, Imperial residence, a guest house, convent, fortified house, and for at least three hundred years, the home of the owner of a nearby estate in the Val DOrcia. In a separate wing, once used for agricultural purposes, there are now guest rooms. open off a stairwell which rises towards a bright, sunny dome. The stairwell was originally Romanesque but has been altered many times over the course of time until it gained its present appearance in the nineteenth century.
