There are lots of things to do around. It is an ideal base from which to explore further afield. Whitby, Pickering, Scarborough and York are all within very easy reach. Eden Camp, Castle Howard and Flamingoland are no more than half an hour away. There are many events throughout the year, including the. the Tall Ships race, Egton Show and Castle Howard's. Proms Spectacular. Glendale House is also a good place from which to follow the trail, and all the places of interest, from his birth place, to Whitby (where he sailed from), are no more than 45 minutes away.
