He called Denver his home from the late 1800's to about 1902. During this time he served as an Arapahoe County Deputy Sheriff. His longest time served was from December 5, 1896 to August 25, 1897. He also served sporadically at other times, being sworn in as a special deputy according to county records. Butch Cassidy and The Sundance Kid were famous outlaw bank robbers. They were well educated and basically pretty nice guys. They were also part of the Hole In The Wall Gang and made the circuit of the Outlaw Trail which ran from the Dakotas to New Mexico.
